But he took his game to a completely new level as a senior as he looked to guide the Saints to a state championship. Wilson put up some of the best numbers in the state when you look at the touchdown to interception ratio and he was rarely contained.

Wilson came into this season as one of the more experienced quarterbacks in the state and he’s certainly playing like it. He’s thrown 23 touchdowns and no interceptions. He’s also been a threat on the ground with nearly 300 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. But there is no doubt that this week’s road game against Millwood will be the toughest test of the year.

Wilson has thrown for over 1,800 yards and 23 touchdowns with no interceptions. He’s also added six rushing touchdowns this year as he’s been one of the best quarterbacks in Class 2A this season. But we mentioned how Wilson is playing some of his best ball right now and we’re talking about the last two weeks. He’s thrown for over 550 yards and eight touchdowns while also adding over 200 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Wilson and the Saints remained unbeaten on Friday night with a win over Newkirk. Wilson threw for 331 yards and four touchdowns on 15-19 passing. Wilson also added 100 yards on the ground and two touchdowns in the win. Wilson had just as many touchdowns as he had incompletions on Friday night. Wilson has also been perfect this season in the interception department. He hasn’t thrown one all season. Wilson has thrown for over 1,600 yards and 19 touchdowns this year. The Saints have jumped into the Class 2A rankings and we have to certainly take them seriously as a contender. We’ll find out just how strong of a contender OCS is in two weeks when they hit the road and face 2A powerhouse Millwood in week eight.

And when you look at this quarterback group in the 2024 class, Wilson is one of the more puzzling prospects on why his recruitment hasn’t taken off more considering the experience and production he has on the field. Probably the most impressive part of Wilson’s game right now is the progression he’s shown in the last three years. It goes back to the experience element as you litterally have three years of history to go and look at his growth as a quarterback. As a junior last fall, Wilson did a really good job of showcasing all of the different strengths to his game. He can throw from the pocket or on the run. He keeps his eyes down field and looks to pass first but he does have the athleticism to take off and run with it if he needs to.

Wilson began starting for the Saints as a sophomore but he did see plenty of playing time as a freshman. This year, Wilson is looking to lead the Saints back to the playoffs and make a potential run in November. When you just look at the numbers, Wilson has had a rocky season. But when you look at the team as a whole, there are a lot of new faces and young players that don’t have a lot of experience prior to this season. Despite the dip in production, we still think that Wilson belongs in the conversation with some of the better quarterbacks in this class. He still has all the physical tools that we liked prior to this season and as the team gets more experience around him, that production will start to go back up. Look for Wilson to finish off this season strong and take that momentum into this offseason.
