Every Friday throughout the regular season on Prep Redzone Oklahoma, we’re going to add three names to the Player Of The Year Watchlist. Be sure to check back every Friday to see who gets added to the Player Of The Year Watchlist and what the current watchlist players have done this season. This year’s winner will be the fourth winner in our website’s short history. The previous three winners were all juniors, including last year, but we have not had a repeat winner yet. The road to Edmond continues this week and so does the race for the 2023 PRZ-Oklahoma Player Of The Year award!
#5 Victory Christian is primed for a deep playoff run in Class 2A and they have one of the more impactful quarterbacks in the class for the road to Edmond. The Conquerors will lead on senior quarterback Ayden Hamilton Ayden Hamilton 6’1″ | 180 lbs | QB Victory Christian | 2024 State OK over the next two months as they look to contend for the state championship. Hamilton is joining the PRZ-Oklahoma Player Of The Year watchlist after the best game of the year last week. The Conquerors ran away from Sperry in the win and Hamilton put up numbers you only see on a video game. Hamilton threw for nearly 300 yards and four touchdowns and also added nearly 350 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. For the season, Hamilton has thrown for over 1,400 yards and 18 touchdowns and also has nearly 1,200 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground. If the Conquerors make a deep playoff run, Hamilton will have a legit shot at the rare stat of 2,000 passing and 2,000 rushing yards.
Beggs is 4-4 on the season as they’ve battled a brutal district schedule and nagging injuries. But despite the 4-4 record, they are still in the hunt for the playoffs. And if they get into the playoffs, they could make plenty of noise with junior Ryan Grayson Ryan Grayson 6’0″ | 160 lbs | DB Beggs | 2025 State OK considering he’s one of the best two-way players in the state, regardless of class. This season, Grayson has been an absolute playmaker for Beggs on the offensive side of the ball. He’s mainly been used as their top wide receiver and he’s totaled over 800 yards and eight touchdowns. But he’s also lined up at running back and has over 300 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. And then you look at what Grayson has done on defense and can’t help but be impressed. He has nearly 50 tackles on the season to go along with his six interceptions, including one that he took back for a touchdown. Grayson is a top ten prospect in a loaded 2025 class.
#5 Perkins-Tryon is right back in the mix of the top contenders in Class 3A this season. And once again, leading the way has been senior Tre Stevenson Tre Stevenson 6’0″ | ATH Perkins-Tryon | 2024 State OK at the running back position. Stevenson is one of the top power runners in the state and he’s definitely at the top of the list for Class 3A. On the season so far, Stevenson has nearly 800 yards and 16 touchdowns. And Stevenson is starting to take over games week after week. In the last month, the senior standout has run for ten touchdowns in four games. And that includes a season-high 176 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Metro Christian that will ultimately help decide the district championship. Stevenson burst onto the scene during his sophomore year in 2021 when he ran for over 1,100 yards and 18 touchdowns. This season, Stevenson has a good chance to eclipse 1,000 yards for the third straight year and finish with over 20 touchdowns on the ground.
