Volume 2 of the biggest pre-high school prospect list in the nation contains nearly 1,100 class of 2027 prospects. Following the release of Volume 1 on October 31st, 2022, PRZ Next has continued to do our best to find the top middle school prospects in each state across the country.
Let us be 100% crystal clear: This is NOT the final list.
We are adding new prospects every day, behind the scenes. The list will be updated TWO MORE TIMES this off-season, with new athletes becoming visible on the Watchlist in late June and August. The final list will be released in mid-August, as these athletes are set to begin their high school careers.
Unlike the high school level, there are no official stats or national database of middle school football players or teams, like MaxPreps does for high school. There is also no obligation to film games or post them to film-sharing platforms, like Hudl. While we stand firmly by our Watchlist, it is important to understand that these very early looks can & will change drastically.
We aren’t sleeping on you. We may not have even seen you, yet.
With the explosion of social media and recruiting efforts ramping up earlier than ever before, there are literally tens of thousands of middle school prospects out there to evaluate. We’re never going to see every prospect–but we we will do our best as always. The Hall of Fame misses on NFL greats. GMs in the NFL miss on college prospects. Colleges miss on high school All-American’s. We may miss on the eighth-grade level — it happens. However, we use our years of expertise and judgement on eighth-grade talent we see live and on film. We do our homework by talking to coaches and researching the ability of athletes.
“But I’m ranked on ABC site & I got invited to play in the XYX camp/game. How am I not on your list?“
On the pre-high school level, if you’re willing to pay enough money, you will find someone to call your 2027 prospect an “all-American” or get “invited” to some event. Prior to high school, football as a whole, is not set up well enough to truly find all the top kids. There will always be invites and all-American games, but that does not factor into our decision-making at all. Film and in-person scouting will trump any invites or titles a prospect may receive/earn/buy.
So why does the Prep Redzone Next 2027 Football Prospect list matter?
Just look at the previous results. This list matters because it is the deepest, most-heavily scrutinized and far-and-away most accurate national list you will find anywhere, on the middle school level. National Scouting Director, Al “Pops” Popadines has been evaluating talent on the middle school level since 2010 and has been on the forefront of early-prospect identification. Pops’ list of athletes identified as middle schoolers, includes dozens of athletes that are now in the NFL and several thousand that have gone on to play/are currently playing at the college level. Names like Bryan Bresee of Clemson and Quinn Ewers of Texas, made the list as eighth-graders and both eventually became the No.1 player in their recruiting class.
Finally, Here’s a look at the Updated Oklahoma Class of 2027 Watchlist
Braxton is a big tight end with crazy upside. A 6’3 and 180-pound frame like Braxton’s is rare to find in his age group right now, and for him to be able to move the way that he does is icing on the cake. At tight end, Braxton is a long strider who knows how to get open and find voids in the defense. With his strong route running, Braxton has natural ball skills that allow him to catch any ball in any circumstance seamlessly. Overall, Braxton already has the size to play at the next level and it won’t be long until his recruiting begins to heat up in a major way.
Highlights
Clark Cariker Clark Cariker 5’11” | 175 lbs | ATH Jenks | 2027 OK is a twitchy athlete that can seemingly do it all on the football field. The 5’10 Sooner State product dominates coming out of the backfield through the air or on the ground. When he is running out of the backfield, Clark is a decisive back who usually takes one quick cut before getting downhill and gaining large chunks of yards. You will also find him generating offense on the quick bubble or wheel routes where he effortlessly catches the ball and gains a substantial amount of yards after the catch. Overall, Clark is a very exciting running back to keep an eye on at the high school level. If continues to put out performances as he has in the past, there is no telling where he might end up at the next level.
Highlights
Cole Campbell Cole Campbell 6’0″ | 165 lbs | DB Owasso | 2027 OK is an athlete who has recently seen his stock rise on the recruiting scene. With a big time performance for the Sooner7 14u team earlier this year, Cole proved why his name should be on the list. With his pure athleticism and body control, Cole plays a major role for his team in a variety of different areas. With his recent explosion to the top of the class of 2027, Cole is another young athlete to be excited about as we head into the upcoming 2023 football season.
Delijah is a running back with some crazy playmaking ability. On the field, Matthews plays with some impressive speed and athleticism that makes him a problem for every defense that he faces. With the chage of direction capability that he has, Delijah always seems to be moving forward when he has the ball in his hands. Just from what I have seen from Delijah, I can tell that he is on a completely different level compared to the competition.
Highlights
I had a chance to evaluate DeVeion earlier this year, and it is no surprise to find him on the 2027 National Watchlist. Bickham is a two-sport athlete that has proven to play both football and basketball at a very high level. On the football field, DeVeion has no problem generating big plays with his legs. DeVeion also runs clean routes that allow him to find open voids in the defense and exploit them for large chunks of yards. Overall, with his elite size, it is clear that DeVeion is destined to be one of the state’s top prospects in more than just football. Having said that, I am very excited to see how Bickham develops throughout his high school career.
Kaeden is a defensive lineman who has recently made a big jump on the prospect list for the class of 2027. The young trench warrior has shown to dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. With his size, strength, and ability to move, Kaeden is beginning to show early signs of being one of the most dominant linemen in this class. If he continues to work and develop the way that he has shown, Kaeden is going to be an absolute force at the line of scrimmage for the years to come.
Lincoln Fugate Lincoln Fugate 5’8″ | 165 lbs | ATH Bixby | 2027 OK is another athlete that has continued to make a strong impression out of the class of 2027. On the football field, Lincoln proved to be one of the fasted dudes on the field at any given time and accounted for several offensive, defensive, and special teams touchdowns throughout the 2022 football season. With him being one of the top targets for his middle school team and receiving the Defensive Player of the Year award, Lincoln clearly can play on both sides of the ball at an unmatched level. Based on everything I have seen from and heard about Fugate, Lincoln is undoubtedly on a path to be one of the top prospects in the state of Oklahoma.
Luke is a big time linebacker to get to know before it is too late. With a stunning performace at the Prep Redzone Next Showcase in Texas, Luke was named a 1st Team All-Camp linebacker. On the football field, Luke is a strong tackler and shows a strong burst when he is in pursuit of the ball. Luke is also a natural at placing himself on a good angle to the ball carrier and closing the gap to make a play on the ball. Overall, Luke is a very exciting ball player to watch when he is competing. If he keeps this up, Luke is going to dominate offenses all over the state throughout his high school career.
Highlights
Marquis Evans Marquis Evans 5’10” | 140 lbs | ATH Moore | 2027 OK is a dominant wideout that continues to build on the success that he has made so far. With his unbelievable speed and route-running ability, there are not many defensive backs around the country that are able to cover him. Evans is the kids of athlete that is able to make a mile out of inch of free space. Not only does Marquis play receiver at a high level, but you will also find him returning kicks for large gains and setting up his offense with strong field position. Overall, Marquis is a very exciting player to watch on the football field, and he will continue to be for years to come.
Highlights
Nate Boeck Nate Boeck 6’3″ | 195 lbs | TE Ada | 2028 OK is a dynamic athlete who can do it all across football, basketball, as well as track and field. Nate is also growing into a Division 1 powerhouse frame as he already stands at 6’3 and weighs almost 200 pounds. With his size, Nate knows how to move around the football field or basketball court well and has shown to have a knack for exploiting his opponent with his athletic ability. Overall, Nate already has what it takes to dominate on paper. If he continues to develop into his frame, Nate is going to be an electric athlete in more sports than one at the next level.
Roberson is an elusive running back to have on your radar in the class of 2027. With an arsenal of athletic ability, Roberson is quickly becoming one of the more talented backs in the state. With the speed and athleticism that Octavian has, it is seemingly impossible to bring him down when he has the ball in his hands. With his ability to shake defenders, it is clear that he is one of the top running backs in the state. If Octavian keeps progressing on this trajectory, there is no telling where he may end up in the future.
Odaefe is a stunning two-sport athlete that continues to shine in the class of 2027. Odaefe is one of those unique offensive linemen who play both football and basketball at a very competitive level. With his 6’5 frame, Odaefe dominates with his size and strength when he is in the trenches. The most impressive thing about Oruru however, is his ability to move the way he does with his size. With everything that I have seen from Odaefe, he is trending toward being one of the top offensive linemen in the state, if not the country.
Highlights
Tuker Brown is another tri-sport athlete to watch as he heads into his freshman year of high school. Playing football, basketball, and baseball, Tucker is one of the more dynamic athletes in this class and can do it all at an elevated level. At wideout, Tucker has shown off his impressive athleticism through his route running and agility with the ball in his hands. Based on his ability, Tucker is a big play-making machine who can tear up defenses at a rapid clip. If he continues to follow this trajectory, Brown will find himself playing any one of the three sports he’s playing at the collegiate level.
