There are few players that we are more fired up to see this season than Deakon Jones Deakon Jones 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Stillwater | 2027 State OK at Stillwater. Jones will be a four-year starter for the Pioneers when he takes the field and there’s no doubt that he’s going to be hungrier than ever. Jones had his junior season cut short with a season-ending injury and that put a halt to all the momentum Jones had from his sophomore year to the start of junior season. So needless to say, Jones is going to try and go down the Hooker route at Salina last fall. And there aren’t many players that will be bigger favorites to be the 2026 comeback player of the year because when Jones is healthy, he is truly special.

Stillwater wide receiver Deakon Jones Deakon Jones 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Stillwater | 2027 State OK is still the state’s top wide receiver in the 2027 class and he’s been considered that guy for a while now. Unfortunately, Jones got hurt halfway through his junior season so we haven’t been able to see the full body of work from the Stillwater standout. We wrote about Jones this summer and how he has been living in the weight room. He’s made himself a bigger, faster and stronger receiver to go along with all the natural skill that he possesses as a pass catcher and overall playmaker. Jones was primed for a monster junior season but all signs point to him coming back stronger than ever when the calendar flips to 2026.

Junior wide receiver Deakon Jones Deakon Jones 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Stillwater | 2027 State OK is the other half of that dangerous WR duo, alongside Thomas. Jones absolutely exploded last season. After having a solid freshman season, he would be the unquestioned leader of the Pioneer receiver group. He led the team with 63 catches for well over 800 yards and 14 touchdowns. He had multiple games where he finished with over 100 yards and two touchdowns. And the fact that the Pioneers are going to have Jones and Thomas for two more seasons should be incredibly scary for the rest of Class 6A-2. You can maybe contain one of these guys but good luck slowing both of them down. Jones also continues to improve his overall game.

Stillwater wide receiver Deakon Jones Deakon Jones 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Stillwater | 2027 State OK has been on a path to being the state’s top wide receiver in the 2027 class since he was a freshman. On a loaded Stillwater offense, Jones earned very valuable playing time as a freshman. During his sophomore season, after the Pioneers were hit by graduation, that opened the door for Jones to become more of a playmaker within the offense and he answered the call. Jones is incredibly dynamic with the football in his hands and more importantly, he’s been able to compete against some of the best players and continues to elevate his game. It hasn’t mattered if it’s during the season, during a team camp in the spring, during a 7v7 tournament in the offseason, Jones is routinely one of the best players that we watch when he’s on the field. We can’t wait to see if he elevates his game again this fall, similar to what we saw in 2024.

Stillwater wide receiver Deakon Jones Deakon Jones 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Stillwater | 2027 State OK is the best wide receiver in the state’s 2027 class and there’s a chance that he’s the best wide receiver in Class 6A-2 as well. We started to see flashes of what Jones could be last year when he was a freshman. But Stillwater was also senior-heavy at the wide receiver position so his opportunities were limited. This season, there’s no doubt that he’s the top receiver in the Stillwater offense and has been absolutely dominant. The thing that separates Jones from other receivers is his natural ability as a wide receiver. He doesn’t jump off the charts from a size or testing standpoint but just watch him in person or even on film. He catches everything thrown his way and he makes it look effortless. He’s enjoying a big 2024 season.

Stillwater wide receiver Deakon Jones Deakon Jones 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Stillwater | 2027 State OK was one of the best freshmen in the state of Oklahoma last season. Jones was a breakout player in the Stillwater offense and it’s anticipated that his production is going to go up in a major way this fall. Jones was a freshman that broke into the lineup on a wide receiver depth chart that featured several seniors. Fast forward to the 2024 season and we anticipate that Jones will be the leading receiver in this Stillwater offense. Jones has also established himself as one of the top offensive prospects in the state’s 2027 class. Simply put, if the ball is thrown remotely close to him, he’s going to find a way to come down with it.
