is very clearly one of the top basketball/football prospects in the state. Earlier this month, Pogi was also rated as the top overall prospect in the Prep Hoops 2027 rankings and he’s one of the top quarterback prospects as well. Pogi got thrown into the fire last season when Mustang’s QB1 went down with a season-ending injury. Pogi struggled at first but immediately started showing improvement, week after week and by the end of the season he was putting up monster numbers. Now, we’re unsure at this point how much he’ll play this fall because that QB1 is back but he’s still a name to know.

has a very similar story to Delgado at Union. We knew about the Mustang freshman prior to him entering high school and then an injury occurred to Mustang’s QB1, coincidentally against Union. And Pogi would end up finishing the season at QB for Mustang. There were obvious growing pains but Mustang’s coaches didn’t put him out there with training wheels on either. And by the end of the season, Pogi was flourishing and putting up big numbers. Now, the Mustang freshman is an absolute star already on the basketball floor. Our Prep Hoops site has him as the top overall prospect in the state’s 2027 class. He might be more of a hooper prospect now but that could change.

Our final freshman from this season was Mustang’s

at the quarterback position. And just like Delgado at Union, Pogi wasn’t necessarily projected to start for the Broncos this season but was put into that role after an injury. Coincidentally, Delgado and Pogi each got their first significant playing time against each other when Mustang faced Union in early October. Pogi finished off the season incredibly strong. Now, he’s tearing up the basketball court and has a very bright future on the hardwood. But it will be interesting to see what Mustang does next season with Pogi and Mustang’s original starting QB returning in 2024.

at Mustang. He comes into this season on an absolutely loaded Mustang quarterback depth chart. So his football experience has been limited this fall. But Pogi is also a standout on the basketball floor and he’s already impressed at various hoops camps this fall. We know that the Mustang coaches are very excited about some of the talent they have coming up in the younger classes and specifically this 2027 class. It will be interesting to see if Pogi can be like former Mustang stars Jacobe Johnson and Keegan Bass moving forward in the terms of they were hoops standouts first that ended up playing D1 football.

has a few things in common with McComb. Both were names that I knew about heading into this weekend because of 7v7 and both are the next up from families with plenty of success in athletics. I first watched Pogi in person a few months ago at our 7v7 tournament in Broken Arrow. He spun it incredibly well that weekend and he shined bright again this weekend. In a setting where he’s competing with other quarterbacks to stand out in drills and 1 on 1 competitions, Pogi impressed time and time again. Similar to Denton, Pogi was right in the mix for the MVP award at the quarterback position with Washington’s

. Pogi really impressed me when the quarterbacks started moving around a little bit and he could take advantage of his athleticism and throw on the run. And like we mentioned with Dickerson above, one of the themes of Sunday’s camp was that the future was incredibly bright for a few OKC-area programs. Mustang also had quite a few guys in that 2027 class that performed incredibly well.

from Mustang. He’s already on the radar as the next potential name at the quarterback position but it’s still obviously very early. So when I had the chance to catch Pogi for a couple games on Sunday during bracket play, my expectations were already pretty high. He met them as he helped his team win a few games and move on in bracket play. I’m looking forward to seeing more of him as he enters high school this fall and I know that the coaches at Mustang are already excited to have him get into the high school. There’s a good reason why Pogi is already on the radar as a quarterback prospect at such a young age and he backed up the hype this weekend.
AL Pops: If that Pogi last name sounds familiar, it should. Tyson is the son of former All-State and Oklahoma State Quarterback, Aso Pogi. The younger Pogi appears to be a chip off the old block in terms of athletic ability, as Tyson is an elite two-sport athlete just like his pops. Was happy to hear he met the expectations of scouts who already knew of him. The combination of him and Alexander was lethal, from what I was told. Tyson is a very fun dual-threat Quarterback to watch and you can see him use the same twitch and quickness he has on the basketball court, on the gridiron. Like

Tyson Pogi is another quarterback that has begun to generate some noise that this level. Coming out of the Sooner State, Tyson one of the more athletic quarterbacks that I have seen. As a dual sport kid, Tyson is clearly an athlete who can compete at just about anything. Tyson has also proven to be one of the fastest kids around with speed that I have yet to see from other quarterbacks in this class. From everything that I have seen from Tyson, it is clear that he is going to have a very bright future in sports. With that said, I would not be surprised if Tyson follows in his father’s footsteps and continues to play football at some of the highest levels that college football has to offer.
