About Taven
Expert Analysis
Alin Edouard | Prep Redzone Scout
Taven put together a productive showing at the Midwestern State camp, handling a full slate of testing, individual linebacker work, and competitive one-on-ones. He showed solid movement skills during agility portions, staying light on his feet while still triggering downhill with confidence. In live reps, he was most effective when attacking gaps and playing decisively rather than hesitating, which allowed him to flash as a run defender. During coverage periods, he held his own in short-area matchups and showed enough awareness to stay connected through routes.

has been a prospect that their coaches have been excited about for around 18 months now. There is a lot of potential there with Brown but he has had to be patient and wait for his opportunity to perform on Friday nights. We’ve seen Brown in camp settings and he definitely looks the part physically and tested incredibly well. If he has continued to develop, it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s one of the breakout stars in 6A-1 football. All of the potential is there, he just needs the reps on the field at this point.

didn’t get as much varsity playing time as the other prospects on this breakdown. But Brown will certainly get an opportunity to have that breakout moment this fall. Brown was behind an experienced senior on the depth chart but there was a lot of hype around Brown coming into his freshman season. We know that the Mustang coaches are excited about the potential of Brown and this freshman class as a whole. So don’t be surprised if Brown is one of the top breakout running backs in 6A-1 this fall. When we’ve gotten a chance to see Brown in person, he has impressed us with blazing speed and good size for how quick he is. He’s just waiting for his moment to prove it underneath the Friday night lights.

at the running back position. Just like Alexander, Brown was one of the top campers in attendance and he has gotten a fair amount of playing time for a Mustang team that is loaded with young talent. Brown has performed well already this season and he appears to have a bright future. Brown also has a twin brother that’s going to be an impact player for Mustang in the future. We’re excited to see Brown and this Mustang team in person this week when they hit the road to face Union. Brown appears to be the marquee running back of the future and we’re looking forward to seeing how many carries Brown gets this week and moving forward.

ran away with the MVP award for his position group. And we had a few running backs there that should find some playing time this fall but Brown was the best of the best in our opinion. Mustang is going to look pretty different this season on offense after losing a good chunk of their production to graduation. Brown probably won’t start but we would be very surprised if he didn’t find his way onto the field early on this fall. The Mustang coaches are very excited about his potential and we’re also excited about Mustang’s future with their 2026 and 2027 classes respectively. They have some young firepower in both classes that are ready to blow up.

has good height for a running back and recorded the quickest times out of everyone. His first attempt was the quickest out of everyone, with him recording 4.59. His second attempt was almost as impressive, with him finishing with a time of 4.62. He showed off his speed, athleticism, and an array of skill with him finishing as the Running Back Most Valuable Player.

ended up walking away with the MVP award for the running back position on Sunday. A big reason Brown rose to the top of the position was what he did during the testing portion. Brown zoomed down the field during the 40-yard dash. He ran a 4.59 on his first attempt and a 4.62 on his second attempt and those were the two fastest times on Sunday. Brown then impressed his position coaches during the individual drills and when the camp broke into 1 on 1 competitions, Brown continued his strong performance on Sunday in Broken Arrow. He routinely beat linebackers in various pass routes and the future is very bright for this speedster. And what’s really impressive about the speed that Brown already has is the size to go along with it. He was probably the biggest prospect in the running back group and still had that top speed that separated him from the group on Sunday.

At 6-foot-1 and 185-pounds (unofficially) Brown may eventually outgrow the Running Back position, but he’s a very gifted football player. For his size, at his position, he’s extremely agile prospect for his position. While I haven’t seen any eighth-grade stats, he finished his seventh-grade year with 33 total touchdowns on offense and 10 sacks on defense. Mustang High School is currently 8-2 and ranked No.16 in the state; Next year, they’ll get the services of Brown.
