Junior standout Gabriel Osborne Gabriel Osborne 6'3" | ATH Mustang | 2027 State OK is the first of several additions to Mustang this offseason that will have an immediate impact. Osborne started for Putnam City in the last two seasons and first got on our radar following his freshman season. Osborne has become a legitimate P4 prospect in the state’s 2027 class, earning offers from major programs in several conferences. Osborne has the potential to really impact the game defensively but also is an outstanding kick returner. He’s listed on Mustang’s initial roster as a defensive back. And we’ll mention this a bit later, but Osborne brings a lot of athleticism and skill to the secondary and that’s quickly become a unit that we really like.

Putnam City standout Gabriel Osborne Gabriel Osborne 6'3" | ATH Mustang | 2027 State OK is a 2027 prospect that we first started writing about around a year ago. Based solely on a couple of clips from his freshman season, we were convinced that Osborne had a bright future as an overall athlete prospect. College coaches have agreed and he has seen his recruitment start to take off and he’s becoming more and more popular when it comes to being an elite prospect in the state’s 2027 class. He’s very dangerous on the defensive side of the ball so it wouldn’t surprise us if that’s where his future is at the college level. Osborne is also a threat in special teams as a kick returner and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Putnam City find ways for him to get involved in other areas of the game.

Putnam City standout Gabriel Osborne Gabriel Osborne 6'3" | ATH Mustang | 2027 State OK is a prospect that we’ve been very high on since we heard about him during the spring. And it was because of what Osborne was doing on the basketball floor. We took a look at Osborne’s football film from his freshman season and while it was limited, what we did see, we really liked. And it’s not surprising to us to see Osborne starting to gain the attention of D1 coaches as he picked up his first offer earlier this fall. Whether it’s on offense, defense or special teams, Osborne has proven that he can make a lot of really good things happen. The Putnam City standout is going to be a name to watch for the Pirates for the next two and a half seasons.

Last month, we updated our 2027 prospect rankings and Gabriel Osborne Gabriel Osborne 6'3" | ATH Mustang | 2027 State OK was the top newcomer to those rankings. After hearing about how Osborne has looked on the basketball floor, we checked out some of his film from last season. While it’s limited, it also didn’t take long to see that Osborne has the potential to be one of the breakout stars in the state’s 2027 class. He is on the radar of college coaches and that should only continue as we go into the 2024 season. Osborne is a terrific athlete that should have his greatest impact on the defensive side of the ball and on special teams as a return specialist. We think his ceiling is incredibly high moving forward.

Putnam City’s Gabriel Osborne Gabriel Osborne 6'3" | ATH Mustang | 2027 State OK is a prospect that is definitely flying under the radar right now in the state’s 2027 class. Osborne has had a really good offseason on the basketball floor but his athleticism and size absolutely translates to the football field in a major way. His film from his freshman season is limited but the plays that we did see from last fall put him in a relatively high tier within the state’s 2027 class. Osborne might be a name that isn’t known right now in football circles but that could definitely change in the next six months. Don’t be surprised if he ends up being a borderline top ten or even top five prospect sooner rather than later.
