Graves last suited up for the Hornets during his sophomore season, when Booker T. Washington made a run to the second round of the playoffs. He made a significant impact that season, and now he returns with the opportunity to dominate the trenches during his senior year. Graves is a physical defensive lineman who can make life difficult for opposing offensive lines. He does an excellent job plugging up the middle and is extremely difficult to handle one-on-one when aligned in a shade technique. When he lines up as a strong-side 3-technique, his combination of size and strength makes him a difficult player to double-team as well. What stands out about Graves is his ability to control the line of scrimmage and create problems for the offense while allowing his teammates to make plays around him. His physicality and presence in the interior should make him a major piece of the Booker T. Washington defense this season. After his senior season, Graves will continue his football career at the next level with the Kansas State Wildcats.

This year, it looks like Graves has taken his game to another level and we are definitely benefitting from just seeing him in person in week six. Graves is an absolute monster on the line of scrimmage and when he’s not getting into the backfield, it’s usually because he’s being held. Despite being just a sophomore, you can definitely make the argument that Graves is one of the top interior defensive lineman prospects in the state, regardless of the class. He’s that special.

After being around Graves a handful of times, he’s an easy guy to root for because he always has a smile on his face. But when the ball is snapped, he flips that switch that makes him truly elite.
