, it’s likely that Alijah Tuner is seeing the bulk of targets. Turner leads the team in receptions, and is just 20 yards away from leading the team in receiving. This comes as no surprise. Turner was and still is the favorite to lead SJP in all categories by season’s end.
Experienced, as good a route runner as any in the state, Turner should be the safe target Foulke can turn to when he feels pressure or has to get rid of the ball quickly. Turner is seeing success running over routes, separating with stride while crossing the face of the QB. Two highlights on tape turned up after running this route. What’s worth mentioning, Turner is working well with Foulke when plays break down. A smart wideout, can sit in zones, can manipulate leverage. I fully expect Turner to carve up the PCL once Foulke finds his footing.

took home WR MVP. I’d argue he and Domo Diaz were Co-MVPs, yet I cannot deny how special Turner looked from start to finish. Far and away the best route runner present, can create separation without relying on athleticism (speed and acceleration). Again, this is the book on Turner and has been for some time. I fully expected him to have DBs shaking their heads. Turner came into the dome with a chip on his shoulder, ready to make his presence known among Division One coaches present, he did just that. No wasted opportunity here. Whether or not he hears back from coaches is another question, we can sleep happily knowing he left a lasting impression.

the route runner. I’m aware of Turner the separator, Turner the wideout who can accelerate past slot DBs. I figured the junior wideout would be too much to handle at this event, I was right. I did learn a thing or two. Much focus is paid to the body control and subtleties that come with Turner getting open. The young man can get open in a phone booth, he’s shown that on tape. I was, however, impressed with some of the catches Turner was able to come down with. Catches made away from his body, high above his head, catches made through traffic or in awkward body angles. Turner flashed trustworthy hands that likely calmed Henning and Jackson down a bit. Knowing they had an option like Turner to throw to has to provide comfort/security. Love the variation in terms of routes run as well. Turner scored from the slot working seam benders and over routes, Turner scored running slot fades, comebacks, corner routes, the tree has certainly grown. Should bode well for his future.

is likely to eat up the field on Saturday and Sunday. I hope no DB downplays this young man’s skillset. A wideout who pays much attention to the nuances of getting open early, as well as late. The type of wideout who can get open in a phone booth, Turner, along with teammate

to turn heads, especially heads who might not know any better. Turner has a lot to prove this Fall, he’s a natural competitor so expect that chip on his shoulder to extend to an event like this. Excited to see him perform.

Turner is another burner on the outside for St. Joseph’s Prep. His speed tracking the football when it’s in the air is definitely elite. Alijah has strong pass-catching hands and the ability to take short passes and turn them into long gains. He runs good routes and wins the majority of 50/50 passes targeted to him. He’s very dangerous when he’s operating in the middle of the field, catching passes in the slot. Turner is a versatile receiver that can affect the game from the X, Z, or Y WR positions. Alijah currently has a Power 5 scholarship from Boston College.

The three prospects listed above don’t currently have the recruiting traction equal to the aforementioned prospects at the top of this post. I’ve done this a long time, long enough to know that not having offers at this point in these kids’ careers is hardly something to harp on. Evaluations are still being made, and I have no problem identifying

as candidates for offers before the season begins. If that prediction proves to be true or not, the main premise stands, these three young men are on the right path to secure future opportunities. Coaches might want to see Olsen run, coaches might want to see Tanie and Turner produce a bit more. It’s only a matter of time in my opinion, so long as these three kids stay in the weight room and the books.

There’s not much tape out there on Turner and unfortunately I have yet to see him in person. But based off what I do know and what we can tell from his spring tape and other small clips, Turner has the opportunity to be a special talent. He has good size at 5-foot-11 and 160-pounds, tremendous ball tracking skills and great athleticism. Boston College offered the St. Joes Prep wideout in May and many more Power Five offers will be coming his way.
