Expert Analysis

Charles really worked hard on himself over the past couple of years, and he’s shown exponential improvement as a player and prospect. I remember talking to him a couple of years ago, and he has the drive to be one of the best. Charles has received recent offers from Miami, Louisville, Boston College, and Charlotte. Looking at the film, the get-off is really impressive – Charles shoots a gap with impressive quickness for his size. Charles also plays with great power and sheds block attempts quickly, using his hands well.

Ibe was a reclassification from the 2027 class, and for him in particular, it seems to have been a great move. He’s a compact, explosive run-stopper who has some pass-rushing upside, and he’s thrived against some talented interior offensive linemen. His get-off is impressive, and we’ve seen him split double-teams to create havoc.

A recent reclassification to the class of 2028 should really help Ibe, who has the talent and probably needs one extra year to grow into his body. By the time his senior year rolls around, Ibe should be a hot commodity on the recruiting circuit and could be playing nose guard or 3-technique at a high level. He’s quick off the ball and has some real raw power on the inside. Some improvements in his pad level and balance should turn him into an elite prospect.

Ibe was a guy we liked a lot in the 2027 class, and his reclassification to the 2028 class should only help his recruiting stock. He’s played some nose tackle in the past, but he projects best as a bigger 3-technique with both pass-rushing and run-stuffing upside. I’m interested to see how the change in class affects his recruiting interest, and he’s a guy I think could get plenty of interest soon.

Ibe played mostly as a 3-4 nose tackle last season but his athleticism will translate to the 3-technique in a 4-3, where I think we’ll see him more as a sophomore at Providence Day. With all the talent around him, it’s easy to overlook his presence, but he’s a strong run-stuffer who can take on blocks while also flashing some pass-rushing upside. Don’t be surprised if he makes some big plays this year.

In a very loaded defensive line group at the Carolina PRZ Next Rising Prospect Camp, Ibe came away with the MVP awards. A 6-foot, 260-pounder with very impressive raw strength. An interior lineman that gave the offensive line fits with his explosion off the snap. He’s an ideal play-making nose tackle in a 3-4 scheme.
