Lott’s raw numbers aren’t as flashy as those of many of the other players on this list, but he had 33 touchdowns and just two turnovers, while sitting on the sidelines for large portions of most of the games of an undefeated season, the first in Providence Day’s history. He averaged 8.6 yards per attempt as a passer, and was second on the team with over 500 yards on the ground.

Lott didn’t have far to move amongst a strong top of the class, but he’s played as well as any quarterback in the state this season. Lott has been the model of consistency for Providence Day, and he’s improved his accuracy and decision-making this year. He’s thrown just one pick in six games, compared to 17 touchdowns, throwing to all fields and showcasing a true college arm.

Lott has an easy throwing motion with simple mechanics, my favorite throwing motion in the state. But he also has a cannon for an arm, and when combined, the two work together to help him generate effortless functional velocity. That allows him not only to be more accurate on deep balls, but to hit balls over the middle than many can’t dream of throwing.

A cannon for an arm is what one respected coach told me about Zaid, who stepped into some very big shoes in a good way last season, leading the Chargers to the championship game in their private school playoff bracket. Providence Day is challenging itself with a stronger schedule this year, but they have the ultimate confidence in Zaid, who is now committed to attend Syracuse after decommitting from North Carolina earlier this year. In Year 2 leading the Chargers, I expect Zaid to put up huge numbers, throwing to a talented group of skill players once again.

Typically known as an in-phase pocket passer, Lott showed some accurate throws on the run this season, something I loved to see. He’s a guy who isn’t overly flashy but delivers on time and with accuracy, two traits that should give him an easier transition to the college level. Lott has Power Four size and arm strength and while his highlight tape isn’t going to floor you, you’ll see a lot of throws that help his team win, and a willingness to push the ball down the field.
