Clavin made sure he wasn’t overshadowed by the Power Four recruits on his defensive line, putting up a great senior season. Despite being a bit undersized for the defensive tackle position, he’s a stout run defender with some pass-rushing upside, something he flashed in the playoffs with a strong game against Cannon School.

You’ve probably seen Clavin’s name several times on the website, as his recent offers have been featured in our weekly recruiting updates. However, we’ve never given him a true evaluation. Despite his leaner build, Clavin plays 3-technique and even nose tackle, excelling against the run. He has the lateral quickness to blow up off-tackle runs, and he’s disciplined as a run defender. The pass rush will come and we think he could have some decent college upside.

Clavin has been hot on the recruiting trail in recent weeks, and he still has plenty of room to improve as a player, especially as a pass-rusher, given his size and quickness. He can fire off the ball with ease and the athletic profile has led several programs at the lower levels to jump in with offers. Given his academic pedigree, I can think of a few high-academic schools who should probably watch his senior year closely.
