Player Of The Year Watchlist – Week Eight

Be sure to check back every Friday to see who gets added to the Player Of The Year Watchlist and what the current watchlist players have done this season. This year's winner will be the fourth winner in our website's short history. The previous three winners were all juniors, including last year, but we have not had a repeat winner yet. Senior standout and Tulsa commit [player_tooltip player_id='215196' first='Dax' last='Collins'] has been lights out as the Pirates expect to contend for the 4A state championship this season. Coming into this week, Collins had over 500 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. He's also added four other touchdowns and then turns around and has been outstanding on defense. He has 33 tackles and a pair of interceptions in the Poteau secondary. Poteau played at Sallisaw on Thursday night and with the win, the Pirates continue to control their destiny in the district. They have a showdown with unbeaten Ada coming up next week. Joining the PRZ-Oklahoma Player Of the Year watchlist is OCS quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='154217' first='Garret' last='Wilson'] and it's hard to argue many quarterbacks have been better than the OCS senior. Wilson came into this season as one of the more experienced quarterbacks in the state and he's certainly playing like it. He's thrown for well over 1,800 yards while completing nearly 70 percent of his passes. But the most impressive part about Wilson's season is the TD-INT ratio. He's thrown 23 touchdowns and no interceptions. He's also been a threat on the ground with nearly 300 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. And senior [player_tooltip player_id='215200' first='Ladainian' last='Fields'] joins teammate [player_tooltip player_id='393974' first='Rodney' last='Fields'] as Player Of The Year watchlist athletes this week. And just like Collins, Fields has been one of the best two-way players in Class 5A for several years now. This season, the TCU commit has been one of the top receivers in the state. Coming into this week's game, Fields has 36 catches for nearly 750 yards and 12 touchdowns. On defense, he also has 25 tackles, an interception and has recovered a fumble. Then you look at Fields in the special teams department and he has taken three punts back for touchdowns.
