Recruitment Updates: 2027s Receiving Offers, Committing + More

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The state of Iowa has its fair share of talent throughout the state. Getting recruited in droves, Iowa's class of 2027 has had quite a few updates to follow over the last month. Some receiving their first offers, some committing to their school of choice and others narrowing down what their future looks like with visits. Let's take a look at who has been where and done what over the last month. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>First, we'll look at each individual that received their first and only offer to this point in their respective recruitment. This month, North Polk OL [player_tooltip player_id='1644899' first='Hunter' last='Bacino'] (Lindenwood), Johnston OL/DL [player_tooltip player_id='2147654' first='Evan' last='Behrens'] (Northern Iowa), Alburnett RB [player_tooltip player_id='1901425' first='Laken' last='Caves'] (Western Illinois), Waukee Northwest QB [player_tooltip player_id='1204436' first='Mack' last='Heitland'] (Western Illinois), Cedar Rapids Prairie RB [player_tooltip player_id='1361313' first='Dawson' last='Kahl'] (Northern Iowa), Newton LB [player_tooltip player_id='1532913' first='Nick' last='Milburn'] (Northern Illinois), Crestwood WR [player_tooltip player_id='1610013' first='Nathan' last='Mahr'] (Drake) and Valley OL/DL [player_tooltip player_id='1361315' first='Ben' last='Booth'] (Drake). Each of those prospects were listed at one point or another this spring as recruits deserving of their first Division 1 offer on PrepRedzone Iowa.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another prospect on those lists, ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1198818' first='Rowan' last='Doak'] of Ankeny Centennial, added three Division I offers within the last month from Penn, Cornell and UNI. He's a Northern Iowa legacy recruit. Clear Lake DB, Isaac Brownlee also added offers from Penn and Cornell. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the top prospects in the state, running back out of Iowa City High, [player_tooltip player_id='1197445' first='Savion' last='Miller'] visited each of Missouri, West Virginia, Miami (FL) for spring practice. He also scheduled an official visit with Minnesota for June 12-14. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>All of the following prospects visited Iowa this spring: WR [player_tooltip player_id='2075898' first='Luke' last='Thoreson'] (Roland-Story), WR [player_tooltip player_id='1204437' first='Jordon' last='Green'] (Waukee Northwest), RB [player_tooltip player_id='2004458' first='Blake' last='Dorenkamp'] (Valley) and DL/LB [player_tooltip player_id='2073254' first='Mohamed' last='Darboh'] (Des Moines Lincoln). </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dubuque Wahlert RB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1476007' first='Brody' last='Creighton'] and DB/RB out of Ankeny, [player_tooltip player_id='1105164' first='Logan' last='Wirtz'] each visited Drake.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Picking up an offer from the previous Iowa State staff, [player_tooltip player_id='2110269' first='Jerrence' last='Knoblock'] received his first committable offer, as Iowa offered him after a spring visit. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1204540' first='Jaxson' last='McIntire'] also visited Iowa, in addition to earning an offer from South Dakota. He joins Iowa City West DB, [player_tooltip player_id='1361350' first='Abdul' last='Hodge Jr'] as a USD recruit. Hodge received offers from UNI and Lindenwood this month, too. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Over the last week, [player_tooltip player_id='1741932' first='Alexander' last='Huhn'] picked up his first two Division I offers, as both of South Dakota and Drake have offered him a scholarship. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the hottest names on the recruiting trail right now is EDGE/DE, [player_tooltip player_id='2086368' first='Ryan' last='Paulsen'] from Central Dewitt. Receiving offers from FCS programs like UNI, USD, South Dakota State and North Dakota before April, the 6-foot-4 and 230-pound prospect has since picked up offers from Illinois, Kansas and Minnesota with plans to visit Iowa soon.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Speaking of hot names on the recruiting trail, particularly on defense, LB [player_tooltip player_id='466364' first='Tate' last='Wallace'] out of Iowa City Regina received an offer from Notre Dame while on a visit in March, also now planning to visit Wisconsin (April 9), Arizona (April 18) and Kansas State (April 21) this month. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With two older brothers playing for the two in-state powers at Iowa and Iowa State, TE/WR [player_tooltip player_id='1693007' first='Bennett' last='Stecker'] out of Spirit Lake will look to follow in their footsteps, as he now holds offers from Air Force, UNI, North Dakota, Libery, Western Michigan, Army, Dartmouth, Toledo and Wake Forest. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Waukee Northwest's [player_tooltip player_id='1204438' first='Joe' last='Vinyard'] has only kept it rolling since <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/03/whats-new-with-iowa-2027s-on-recruiting-trail/">our last recruitment </a>update, adding offers from Army, Navy, Princeton, Ohio and Northern Illinois.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ankeny LB [player_tooltip player_id='1105160' first='Dawson' last='Whitinger'] has also remained on the rise in the FCS, adding offers from Lindenwood and Southern Illinois. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Both committing to Northern Iowa, [player_tooltip player_id='513361' first='Carlos' last='Blount Jr'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1197446' first='Wyatt' last='Valenta'] are set to be the linebackers of the future for Todd Stepsis and the Panthers. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A heavily recruited prospect out of 8-Man, Woodbine's [player_tooltip player_id='1197458' first='Landon' last='Blum'] opted to commit to Penn State. With offers from Iowa State, Iowa, Miami (FL), Auburn, Illinois, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Vanderbilt and others, Blum chose to ride with Matt Campbell and the previous staff at ISU. He had initially planned to end up in Ames before the coaching change, but stuck with Campbell and company.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Adding to the list of Power 4 commitments this month was [player_tooltip player_id='1393166' first='Nate' last='Brenneman'] of Rock Valley, who committed to Iowa.
