Holding down the left tackle spot on an offensive line that included other Division I prospects a year older than him, Evan Behrens Evan Behrens 6'5" | 250 lbs | OL/DL Johnston | 2027 IA earned his right to play at one of the more important positions in football for Johnston last season.
A forward mover, Behrens did a good job of engaging with opposing defensive linemen and imposing his will despite standing at just 250 pounds. A tall and long offensive lineman at 6-foot-5, Behrens has a ton of room to fill out his frame, and with that, loads of potential to continue to hone his craft as a potential Division I lineman.
Behrens received an offer from Northern Iowa in late March.

Johnston reached the Class 5A quarterfinals last season, losing to Valley a step short of The Dome. Much of the Dragons’ success could be traced to consistently good play from the offensive line. They rushed for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns, and threw for 2,076 and 22 touchdowns. Behrens was credited with 26 pancake blocks during his junior campaign. We get a good feel for what he does well when watching his 11th-grade highlight video. On it, we see Behrens win reps with a valuable set of skills. He fires off of the snap faster than most opponents, gaining an early advantage. Understanding blocking angles and leverage, Behrens can control the the guy across from him. He operates with active and strong hands, too. That his frame has plenty of room for added mass and strength give him a sizable ceiling for the future.
