Kellan Bousum Kellan Bousum 6'3" | 205 lbs | DL/TE Johnston | 2029 IA was a stud on the Dragon’s freshman team, immediately making his presence known and earning himself several reps on the varsity lineup as well. In limited appearances, Bousum recorded 2.5 tackles, a TFL, and a forced fumble, further exemplifying his flashy explosiveness. A relentless DE who’s fast, twitchy, and has already developed a variety of pass-rush moves for his role, Bousum is impressively refined at the position for his age, proving to constantly find his way into the backfield and disrupt the QB under pressure. Bousum has plenty of time to build some more bulk to match his frame and athleticism, and there’s no telling how much of a problem Bousum will be for opponents when he breaks into the starting lineup on the varsity defense for the Dragons.

Bousum got his feet wet as a freshman for a Johnston squad that won 11 games before falling by a touchdown to Valley in the 5A quarterfinals. He produced two solo tackles, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble in limited duty. Contributing in the state’s largest classification as a ninth-grader is notable and bodes well for Bousum’s future. Highlights from the season that can be found on his Hudl page also speak to bright days ahead. In addition to what he showed defensively on the varsity with advanced skills and development, Bousum gives every reason to believe he could end up being a tight end that’s a receiving threat and a productive blocker.
