of Spirit Lake has made a major ascension in his recruitment over the last few months. Largely Group of 5 and FCS offers for the majority of the spring, Stecker received his first Power 4 offer from Wake Forest at the end of March. In addition to his familial connections at Iowa and Iowa State (older twin brothers Ethan and Dylan), it’s easy to see why his recruitment has gained so much momentum when taking a gander at his junior film.
A big and tall pass-catcher that could play either tight end or wide receiver in college, Steckers 6-foot-5 and 200-pound frame provides a wide catch radius to go along with some of the best ball-skills in the state. He possesses strong hands and solid base for blocking of a tight end, plus the ability to take a screen pass and make a play in the open field like a speedy receiver. Stecker has potential to gain speed and sharpen route-running as a receiver, plus the possibility of filling out his frame and becoming a stronger run-blocker at tight end.
He caught 19 passes for 224 yards and two scores last season.

also makes a solid rankings debut after putting out strong junior tape. Bennett hauled in 19 catches for 224 yards and two receiving touchdowns. As you’ll see with most of the players featured here, Bennett already possesses next-level size and length at 6’5″ and 200 pounds, which makes him a mismatch for defenders. Watching Bennett’s tape, I think he projects best as a tight end, but he also displayed some inside-outside versatility, allowing him to be moved across the formation to take advantage of certain situations. He is strong at the catch point, with great concentration to maintain possession through contact. Solid route running helps him create separation from defenders. Physical blocker who is always looking to finish and will even keep looking for more work downfield.
Stecker got a feel for varsity football in a limited role last season. He’s put lessons learned then to good use in 2025. He’s caught 16 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown. On defense, he’s racked up 22.0 tackles (18 solo, 5.5 TFL). He’s forced a fumble and added half a sack. A review of his mid-season highlights reveals a unique blend of skills and attributes on offense. He possesses the quickness and speed to make people miss as a receiver with a frame capable of developing into a tight end. That projection has led to programs like Iowa State getting involved. It’s a body type that also leaves the door open for a future on defense as a linebacker or edge rusher. There’s a lot to like about Stecker.
