Roland-Story emerged as a force with their passing game last season, and working with a new QB under Center, Luke Thoreson Luke Thoreson 6'3" | 183 lbs | WR/DB Rolandstory | 2027 State IA not only built upon his promising sophomore campaign, but emerged as one of the very best receivers overall in the state. Thoreson ranked 2nd in the conference in receptions (75) and receiving yards (1206), which also placed both 3rd overall in the entire state. His 16 receiving TDs led the 2A conference and ranked T-5th most in the state. Thoreson was outstanding, showing substantial growth with both his size and his precision as a pass-catcher, being able to catch passes through contact and in tight windows, showing sharper footwork with his routes, and creating separation down the field with ease to create huge chunk gains for his young QB. The dynamic between Thoreson and QB Colin Willis Colin Willis 6'3" | 170 lbs | QB Rolandstory | 2028 State IA should remain as the central point for the Norsemen’s offense, which may pave the way for a deep run for Roland-Story in the postseason in 2026.

An all-state receiver and pass-catcher that was a primary reason Roland-Story will be a title-contender going into next season, Luke Thoreson Luke Thoreson 6'3" | 183 lbs | WR/DB Rolandstory | 2027 State IA grabbed a whopping 75 catches for 1,206 yards and 21 touchdowns on behalf of the Norsemen. He finished the year with the fifth-most receiving touchdowns in all classes.
Watching what he did this last season makes his volume of catches make a lot of sense. A receiver that could catch passes over the middle in tight windows, break a tackle or two and then take it to the house, Thoreson was a threat to score at almost any time for the Norsemen. A top-tier route-runner, too, Thoreson should be on more D1 radars at this point in his high school career.

A primary reason Roland-Story will be considered a title contender in 2A going into next season is the play and production of their All-State receiver, Luke Thoreson Luke Thoreson 6'3" | 183 lbs | WR/DB Rolandstory | 2027 State IA . The 6-foot-3 and 183-pound pass-catcher finished the year grabbing 75 catches for 1,206 yards and 21 touchdowns on behalf of the Norsemen, grabbing the fifth-most receiving touchdowns in all classes.
A threat to make a play after the catch, Thoreson showed the ability to make contested grabs in tight windows over the middle of the field, break tackles and outrun the defense to the endzone.
Burst off the line will be a piece that Thoreson needs to continue to work on in order to add it to his repertoire, but he’s also one of the better route runners one will see in 2A football.

Thoreson was a dominant offensive presence in 2025. The junior hauled in 75 catches for 1,206 yards and 16 touchdowns. He chipped in on defense, too, with 21 of his 23.0 tackled being solo stops. He intercepted two throws, and his lone punt return went for 14 yards. We see how Thoreson gets the job done during his 11th-grade highlight video. A tall target with long arms, his catch radius is a problem for most defensive backs. That might lead people to believe he only traffics in contested catches. That assumption would be incorrect. Thoreson is adept at eating up yards after the catch with elusiveness and breakaway speed. It will be interesting to see how Thoreson does on the camp circuit because the potential is significant.
