has been more prevalent as the top LB prospect in the state, but he’s been just as easily a very strong presence in the passing game for the Regals. Wallace led the offense with 40 receptions for 611 yards and 10 TDs in 2025. Using his frame greatly at the TE position as much as it’s helped him dominate on the defense, Wallace has been a fluid route-runner who’s reliable both on the flats and over the seams, having natural instincts in adjusting his route depth and doing a great job adjusting to the ball to reel in high passes, while also having the tenacity and strength to create lanes both for the run and pass. The 4-star prospect holds offers from 16 D1 teams, including Notre Dame, Tennessee, Nebraska, and Minnesota, and should remain to be one of the most coveted prospects entering his senior season.

One of the more dominant players in the class of 2027 on both sides of the ball, the All-American and future Power 4 linebacker, Tate Wallace will be in line for another big time season this fall for Regina Catholic.
An explosive and powerful pass-rusher, Wallace was unblockable at times this last season for the Regals. With a high-motor and violence to rip through left tackles and make them work their tails off all game, Wallace totaled 49.5 tackles, 18 TFLs, 8.5 sacks and two forced fumbles from the defensive end spot.
A tight end that can give a linebacker or a DE a nice punch in the mouth as a blocker, but also release and break off a route in the middle of the field for a nice gain, Wallace is a nightmare matchup as a tight end. With his long, bounding strides and the ability to manhandle DBs and out-run linebackers, no one wants the assignment of defending one of the better pass-catchers in the state. Wallace finished his junior campaign with a team-leading 40 catches for 611 yards and ten scores.

is among the most athletic, explosive and high-motor pass-rushers in Iowa. Playing with violence and tenacity, Wallace is a feared tackler that could matchup with any lineman in the state and give them a fight every single snap.
Wallace isn’t an incredibly out-spoken player or one that boasts his skillset, he lets his play do the talking on both sides of the ball, making him a perfect fit with Moreau. Easily coached and an excellent matchup for Clausen, Shannon, Slagle and others in one-on-one drills, Wallace and Moreau are an excellent combination.

While he is ranked as the top LB in the state, Wallace has also played with equal success on the other side of the ball, so much that he could legitimately position himself as a viable TE prospect heading into his senior season. Wallace finished with 40 receptions for 611 yards and 10 TDs during the 2025 season. Wallace’s athleticism on the defensive side of the ball translated well on offense, proving reliable both as a checkdown option and to stretch the ball down the field with medium-to-deep routes, continuing to make him the go-to threat for the Regals’ offense. The 4-star prospect holds 10 D1 offers, including from premium schools such as Tennessee, Minnesota, and Kansas State, more likely to pursue his skills at LB at the next level, though he continues to make a huge impact for Regina’s offense.

I remember seeing Wallace line up against rival West Branch as a skinny freshman in the Little Rose Bowl. I’ve watched him multiple times every year since then. He’s steadily improved as a player and developed physically. Skinny is not a word associated with him these days. Just like two years ago, Wallace as a knack for delivering impactful plays on both sides of the ball. The junior was at it again in the state semifinals at the UNI-Dome. He helped the Regals end Grundy Center’s 50-game winning streak with a team-high 7.0 tackles (4 solo, 2.5 TFL), two pass breakups and a quarterback hurry. Wallace also hauled in a pair of passes for 40 yards. While I could see him succeeding on offense at the next level, he’s grown into a Power 4 level defender. The skill set probably fits best coming off of the edge in a four-person front or at outside linebacker in a 3-4. Wallace possesses the athleticism and speed to work as a backer in a 4-3, too. He’d also be an asset on special teams. Prep Redzone Iowa already sees Wallace as the No. 1 linebacker and fifth-best player overall in the 2027 Class, but he’s still lifted his prospect stock significantly this season.
