Week 3 saw some good football in the Charlotte Metro Area as we take a look at some of the big games and who stood out for each team as a player in the first Rapid Recap series.

Statesville 24 Hopewell 21

The Greyhounds continue to play well, earning a win in the first game on their new turf in their home stadium. The Greyhounds played two quarterbacks, but the running game produced behind their big offensive line, led by Corddarius Neal and Joshua Terry. Hopewell has played tough under new Head Coach Brandon Sneed, and quarterback Malachi Goudelock has been a pleasant surprise to start the season.

Mooresville 52 AL Brown 13

The big story here is the performance of Blue Devils QB Brody Norman. After a tough start in Week 1, Norman's progress has been impressive, as he went 13-13 for 273 yards and 5 touchdowns. 4 of those touchdowns went to WR [player_tooltip player_id='1240397' first='Dominic' last='Morin'] and TE [player_tooltip player_id='327286' first='Gavin' last='Barber'], who had a big game with 6 catches for 112 yards.

Providence Day 32 Charlotte Catholic 7

The Chargers played very well in defeating the Cougars in a private school showdown in the Queen City. QB [player_tooltip player_id='896157' first='Zaid' last='Lott'] had an awesome game for Providence Day, throwing for 182 yards and 2 touchdowns while also rushing for 117 yards. [player_tooltip player_id='800901' first='Gordon' last='Sellars'] broke out with 10 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, [player_tooltip player_id='1239187' first='Caleb' last='Cooper'] had a nice game from his DB spot with 13 tackles, while [player_tooltip player_id='1029786' first='Griff' last='Galloway'] continues to impress with 10 tackles, a tackle for loss, and a fumble recovery.

Lake Norman 56 West Cabarrus 16

The Wildcats continue to play very well and impress, and while [player_tooltip player_id='1616126' first='Kaden' last='Craft'] has played some efficient football, it's been the power of their running game that has led the charge. Allen Jones, who goes by "Bruno" had another big game with 183 yards on only SIX carries and 2 touchdowns. Craft had 3 touchdown passes to three different receivers, and the defense continued to play complementary football.

Weddington 49 Monroe 7

After coming off a rare home loss, the Warriors took out their frustration on a Monroe team playing a very tough schedule in a big victory. The Warriors' defense, led by the usual suspects of [player_tooltip player_id='951444' first='Andrew' last='Harris'], [player_tooltip player_id='823700' first='Aiden' last='Harris'], and Thomas Davis Jr held star Monroe QB [player_tooltip player_id='473849' first='Jysen' last='Shepherd'] to 134 yards passing and only 118 rushing yards. [player_tooltip player_id='1321106' first='Kelson' last='Tate'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1704986' first='Jonathan' last='Manley'] continue to lead the offensive attack for the Warriors.

Independence 35 Charlotte Christian 34

The Patriots and the Knights played a heck of a game over in Mint Hill this past Friday Night, and several players stood out. [player_tooltip player_id='915835' first='Jared' last='Street'] is continuing his redemption tour this season, throwing for 272 yards and 3 touchdowns, while also rushing for 70 yards. RB Travis Hill, filling in for star [player_tooltip player_id='1124842' first='Jayden' last='Jones'] out due to injury, rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown as well. For Charlotte Christian, [player_tooltip player_id='1106930' first='Jamal' last='Rule'] went out and was on a mission, rushing for 293 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns. LB [player_tooltip player_id='736967' first='Cohen' last='Kilgannon'] for Christian also had a nice game with 13 tackles.
