emerged as the most complete prospect at the camp. A physical specimen with elite versatility, Barber stood out by combining the movement skills of a wide receiver with the blocking strength of an offensive tackle. His work ethic was unmatched—he ran harder, competed with relentless energy, and brought intensity to every rep.
Barber dominated every drill, showcasing a rare blend of athleticism and toughness. In 1-on-1 matchups, he was simply unstoppable, winning every rep regardless of who lined up across from him. His route running was crisp, his hands were reliable, and his ability to separate made him a nightmare matchup for defenders. In blocking drills, Barber displayed a powerful base and refined technique, handling edge rushers with ease.
A true matchup nightmare and a high-upside TE prospect, Barber has all the tools to succeed at the next level and beyond.

Few players are as hot this spring as Barber as the Mooresville tight end has picked up over a dozen D1 offers since late January. While FCS teams are vying for his services, we think he could end up at the Group of Five or even Power Four level. Finding big-bodied tight ends with production is difficult and Barber checks a lot of boxes.

Gavin has been consistently productive throughout his career, and his versatility is what impressed me to rank him at the #2 spot in these particular rankings. Gavin can excel as a blocker, and an in-line tight end running routes, and he can flex out and run routes as a receiver with some success. Gavin has grown physically into a player who can block with impressive strength on the edge. Gavin also has good speed to win against slower linebackers who try to keep up with him in coverage. From a recruiting perspective, Gavin currently has five Division 1 offers and should continue to see more attention come his way from college football programs.

Gavin is a complete tight end, and is our only tight end on this Junior Bowl team. Gavin does a good job as an in-line blocker in the running game, sealing edge defenders and working combo blocks to the next level. At his size, Gavin is still a mismatch in the passing game against linebackers over the middle of the field. Against safeties, he can body them with his size and win with physicality in man to man coverage. Gavin was named All-Conference for the 2nd year in a row, and is receiving some well-deserved recruiting attention.

Gavin had a couple of catches on some early downs that showed he is a reliable receiver and can get open against linebackers and safeties in the middle of the field. Gavin also showed some good blocking on the edge of the defense on some outside zone plays that Mooresville had some success with off-tackle. Gavin is a true 3-down tight end that has soft hands and can work well in the short passing game.

A recent transfer from Cox Mill, Barber is a standout baseball player, but if I were him, I’d take a long look at playing football at the next level. As a receiver, he hasn’t been used often as a “go up and get it” guy, but Cox Mill did an excellent job of designing screens and shorter routes designed to get Barber in space. He’s excellent after the catch and a load to bring down.
