Jadarius, or “J-Man” as a lot of people call him, ended up with a nice day on the ground for the West Team. I thought he ran really hard between the tackles to start the game, and that opened up some opportunities on the outside in the outside zone game. When Jadarius was able to turn the corner, he showed some impressive speed and the ability to run away from people. Jadarius finished the game with 71 yards on 11 carries.

Jadarius, or “J-Man” as most call him, has backed up a strong season last year with even more production this year on a Mooresville offense with a number of good weapons. McCombs’ speed in the open field is impressive – he simply doesn’t get caught from behind, and his decisiveness in his cuts allows him to pick up maximum yardage on each carry. He will be an important piece for the Blue Devils as they make a run in the state playoffs.

McCombs only had 30 more carries in 2024 than he did in 2023, but more than doubled his season yardage, thanks to a move from 4.6 to 7.3 yards per carry. He broke out with his first two 100-yard outings in his final two games of 2024 and should carry that momentum into his senior season. A home run threat due to his speed, McCombs got better at attacking the hole as the season went and that allowed him to find more open space and create more chunk runs. Expect him to get closer to reaching his potential as an elite explosive runner in 2025.

Jadarius, or J-Man, is one of my favorite players in the state of North Carolina. And that is for both on-the-field and off-the-field reasons. On the field, Jadarius was involved in a timeshare with a couple of other talented running backs at Mooresville and a talented dual-threat quarterback in

. Jadarius ended up being the leading rusher for the Blue Devils with 950 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on the season, with a 7.3 yards per carry average. Jadarius has excellent speed in the open field and has very good footwork and vision in and out of the hole. Off the field, he is a tireless worker and has the right mindset and attitude to be the best player he can be. I interviewed Jadarius after a Mooresville victory.
