Berry at Rocky River: Defensive Standouts

The Ravens were able to overcome several turnovers on offense to get their first win of the season, while the Cardinals remain winless at 0-3. There were some standout players on both teams from a defensive perspective. Elijah was playing his assigned area in zone coverage and took advantage of a dropped pass that was tipped in the air to him. Outside of that play, Elijah did have some nice pass breakups in man coverage, especially on a couple of deep balls Berry tried to throw against him. I thought Daniel did a good job of keeping outside leverage when Berry was trying some outside zone/jet sweep running plays. Aidan was a dominant EDGE player in this game, as he used a variety of moves to get to the quarterback consistently. Aidan had 2 strip sacks that led to fumble recoveries for the Ravens. Aidan has a nice first step in his pass rush and has the physical traits college coaches love in this role. Noah did a good job of dropping in his assigned areas - typically hook/curl zones and keeping his eyes focused on the quarterback and reading where he was throwing the football. There were times when Daylyn was unblockable, in both the running game and in the pass rush. Daylyn used a variety of power-based moves to win on the interior of the defense, and he also showed he could play off the edge as well. Winston was able to pick up an interception in coverage, thwarting a Rocky River drive approaching the red zone in the second half.
