Charlotte Metro Area + Beyond Week 5 Offensive Playmakers

All across the Charlotte Metro Area & beyond in Week 5, there were big-time offensive performances, and we're going to highlight them here with a bit of commentary tacked on as well for select players. Racere Bruton - North Stanly - 344 Total Yards and 3 Special Teams Returns for Touchdown in victory over Mountain Island - Racere was impressive in space with nice speed and agility in the open field, taking advantage of some nice blocking by his teammates on multiple occasions for his scores.   Antonio Samuels - RJ Reynolds - 297 Rushing Yards, 182 Return Yards, 6 Total TDs in victory over Ballantyne Ridge - The Demons are not usually known as a power out of the Winston-Salem area; however, they have started this year with a bang, remaining undefeated so far on the season. Antonio is a senior who can blend speed and power and is a big-time piece of the offense so far this year.   [player_tooltip player_id='896157' first='Zaid' last='Lott'] - Providence Day - 8 Total TDs (4 Passing, 4 Rushing) 338 Passing Yards, 145 Rushing Yards in win vs. Rabun Gap - Zaid probably played the best game of his career so far, contributing in so many major ways against a well-regarded team that the Chargers will probably see again in the playoffs.   [player_tooltip player_id='1593034' first='Jadarius' last='McCombs'] - Mooresville - 105 Rushing Yards and 2 Touchdowns in victory over East Forsyth - Jadarius, or J-Man, as he is known by those that know him, has become an essential piece of a Blue Devils offense that is starting to find some pretty good footing after a big-time throttling of East Forsyth last week.   [player_tooltip player_id='1751631' first='Callaway' last='Williams'] - South Mecklenburg - Pick 6 Interception and a Receiving Touchdown in victory over East Meck - A big piece of this Sabres 4-1 start, Callaway has been loyal to the program, grown up with Coach Joe Evans, and is making huge plays on both sides of the ball to put South Meck in a good position to make the state playoffs.   Jolani Legette - Palisades - 120 Receiving Yards and a Touchdown vs. Independence   Independence Running Attack - 334 Rushing Yards and 4 Touchdowns in win over Palisades, [player_tooltip player_id='1124842' first='Jayden' last='Jones'] & Travis Hill! - [player_tooltip player_id='1124842' first='Jayden' last='Jones'] and Travis Hill both went over 100 yards rushing as the Patriots beat the Pumas at their own game, being physical at the point of attack and consistently winning the line of scrimmage. In particular, it was good to see Jones back on the gridiron and carrying a strong load with 22 carries on the night.   [player_tooltip player_id='1320897' first='Kaleb' last='Vines'] - Providence - 121 Rushing Yards, 34 Receiving Yards, 2 Touchdowns in win over Butler - Several key players stood out in this one for the Panthers, including new starting QB [player_tooltip player_id='1321018' first='Luke' last='Meador'], as [player_tooltip player_id='620328' first='Jackson' last='Debe'] has chosen to focus on his collegiate baseball career going forward. Vines provides some nice balance in the Providence offense, and they look at a new beginning as conference play starts this week.   [player_tooltip player_id='1654186' first='Brody' last='Hunt'] - South Iredell - 13 Catches, 312 Yards, 4 Touchdowns in win over Alex. Central - Iredell County Record! - I had a chance to talk to Brody after he helped spearhead an epic comeback for the Vikings, which included recovering 3 onside kicks in the 4th quarter! [player_tooltip player_id='1122961' first='Shannon' last='Wingate Jr'] - Maiden - 155 Rushing Yards, 2 Touchdowns in victory over West Iredell   Quincy Fortenberry - Hunter Huss - 132 Rush Yards, 2 TDs, 123 Rec. Yards, 2 TDs, 3 Interceptions in win over N. Gaston - This highlight film was insane as Quincy made plays all night long to get his Huskies to an impressive 4-1 start.    [player_tooltip player_id='1616134' first='Titus' last='Troy'] - NW Cabarrus - 166 Rushing Yards and 2 Touchdowns in victory over South Rowan   [player_tooltip player_id='338729' first='Khalil' last='Price'] - Mallard Creek - Game Winning Touchdown in victory over Cardinal Gibbons   Jay'lin Johnson - Salisbury - 180 Receiving Yards and a Touchdown vs. Carson - Jay'lin is probably the best wide receiver that no one really knows about here in North Carolina. He was a really good receiver last year, and he's a bright spot on a Salisbury team that is having a rare rebuilding year this season.   [player_tooltip player_id='1099168' first='Lan' last='Farmer'] - Shelby - Set School Record for Career Touchdown Passes with 91 in win over Cherryville - It feels like I've been writing about Lan ever since I've been working here, and he's got a nice record to add to what has been a stellar career for the Golden Lions. They are rounding into the shape of a real 3A state title contender. To pair with [player_tooltip player_id='945238' first='Tyran' last='Evans'] and Jayden White in the Husky passing offense, that will make them very tough to defend if he continues to produce at this level.   [player_tooltip player_id='1608319' first='Max' last='Davis'] - Burns - 157 Rushing Yards, 3 Touchdowns, 7 Tackles, Defensive TD in win over Bessemer City   [player_tooltip player_id='870217' first='Tanner' last='Payne'] - West Carteret - 406 Passing Yards - School Record! 5 TD passes, 2 Rush TDs in win over Dixon   [player_tooltip player_id='1277000' first='Damonte' last='James'] - Central Cabarrus - 149 Rushing Yards and 3 Touchdowns in victory over Hickory Ridge - Damonte helped the Vikings get off to a good start in conference play with this performance. They enter a huge game against Olympic with a share of first place on the line this week.   [player_tooltip player_id='1619953' first='Montez' last='Jimenez'] - White Oak - 195 Rushing Yards and Rush TD in victory over Southwest Onslow   [player_tooltip player_id='1599171' first='Brooks' last='Culp'] - South Iredell - Strong Game in Pass Protection in victory over Alexander Central - Multiple Pancakes   Russell-Paul Betler - West Cabarrus - 5 Extra Points and 5 Touchbacks in victory over Berry   [player_tooltip player_id='1608303' first='Chanse' last='Bost'] - Mooresville - 3 Receiving Touchdowns & Punt Return Touchdown in victory over East Forsyth - Chanse had a monster game as he is kind of the forgotten guy sometimes on a strong Blue Devil team with so many offensive options. However, this young man can really play, and as time moves forward, I think you will see how talented he really is. I've seen them work in 7 on 7 together, and it was only a matter of time before they clicked on the regular. Freedom is undefeated and is a real threat to the throne that Watauga has as the best team in the western part of the state.
