We’ve seen Cato numerous times in camp settings, and over the last year, he’s refined his throwing mechanics, making him a true Division 1 college prospect. He has great size and a strong arm, and his accuracy has steadily improved over the last three seasons.

The three-year starter once again showed well at a CFI showcase. He has grown physically and matured with his football knowledge and understanding, and should have some opportunities to play college football at the next level come to him sooner rather than later. Chance has also grown as a vocal leader, and he can motivate players to play at a high level in competitive situations.

We’ve seen Cato in a camp setting a few times over the years and came away impressed with his poise and arm talent each time. He took a huge step forward as both a runner and a decision-maker as a senior, and projects as a high-upside pocket passer with plenty of athleticism to escape and extend plays.

Chance was one of our All-State selections for 6A at the quarterback spot, and since he’s returned from injury, he has looked great in leading the Trojans to a first-place spot in the Greater Metro Conference. Cato has thrown for nearly 250 yards in every game he has played in this season, and he’s had a strong career as a 3-year starter for the Trojans. He has earned his selection in this All-Star Game.

I think Chance probably had the strongest arm out of this group of quarterbacks that I saw during the showcase. You can see Chance is performing with a lot of confidence; he has done well at previous showcases this offseason as well. I think college coaches are waiting to see some early-season game film on Chance, because the one thing he has to improve on is his decision-making during games. Otherwise, Chance has everything you want in a potential college quarterback. He just has to remain patient and get off to a good start this season, and I think offers will start coming his way.
