Tough for any back in a 7v7 setting to really stand out. This is usually a WR/DB-infested style of event. That being said, I came away pleased with the leadership, effort, and production put forth by St. Joseph’s Prep’s

Running routes both out of the slot and out of the backfield, Billups paid great attention to detail post-release, proving he has serious understanding of zone/man concepts being potentially disguised in front of him. A astute back with brains behind his short-area burst, Billups is capable of beating pretty much any linebacker present. Billups proved he could separate running outs and crossers, all while providing Foulke with a set of soft hands if and when he was actually targeted. Backs don’t get too much shine at events like this one, yet I came away pleased with Billups’ overall performance.

Khyan was a force to be reckon with out of the backfield. His route running is very good and he can get low to turn corners and explode. He can get open from the wideout positions and put himself out there as one of the best overall athletes in the tournament.

. I’ve documented the year Billups had in previous pieces, I will use this one to talk about potential recruiting ceilings and floors. Due to how well Billups looked against elite competition all year long, a part of me feels like questions surrounding Billups’s stature are alleviated in a way. Coaches will immediately shy away from prospects who don’t meet certain height/weight thresholds, yet I implore coaches reading this to reconsider. The tape doesn’t lie, my ranking holds true. Billups saw a 30+ jump in overall rank after tearing through defenses on his way to helping this offense function at the clip/pace it did. Another year of production like we saw this past Fall, I find it hard to believe that FCS schools wouldn’t want to bring him in. I think Billups’s recruiting floor is likely the FCS level, especially when you consider that his current development under the SJP umbrella makes him an easier sell than most. I’m more interested in learning if FBS coaches are willing to take a chance on him, as well as when the avalanche of opportunities will come his way. Early in 2025? Summer 2025? Will he have to prove himself again next Fall? All questions I’d love to know the answer to. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out local G5s like him enough to offer at some point down the line.

5’8, 165 pounds. I fully understand why an FBS program would be weary to extend offers to backs of Billups’s size. Like I’ve said in the past, it’s going to be an uphill battle to secure FBS scholarships from now to signing day next year. I implore any coaches reading that this shouldn’t be as tough a take as it may seem.

was in line to back up the top-ranked back, or so that’s what was how things were perceived in August. I detailed early into the season that Billups had attained close to the same amount of carries and yards through the first two weeks of the season. West would eventually be lost for the season, further fanning the flame that SJP would have no shot at a 6A title.

‘ efforts behind this stout OL helped propel SJP back to form quickly. A lot must be said of Billups, the junior stepped up when he was called upon to lead this vaunted but young SJP offense. Billups finished the season with six-straight 100-yard performances to his name, this against the likes of LaSalle, Downingtown West, and PCC, a final championship effort that saw Billups score three times and tally 230 yards on the ground.
In recruiting terms, Billups will have to be patient and control what he can control. GPA, track times, film, and exposure, all of these things will prove to be vital in the effort to get an FBS program to bite. Billups is well on his way to climbing our ranks. With a ranking update ready to drop, Billups will likely see a massive jump in overall rank.

‘s injury. Many media in attendance were caught off guard by Billups’ skills. Obviously much of the credit goes to this offensive line group, yet Billups has been on an unreal tear through defenses all year long. This Championship performance was the cherry on top of a breakout season.

, the second back in rotation, one who is toting the rock nearly as much as the Ohio State commit. 29 carries for 120 yards in three games, a reliable second option, one who can be tasked with running between the tackles despite his size. Billups out-produced West against St. Edwards, proving he can be a serviceable option in this offense.
Billups’s carry totals have gone up with each passing week, the Prep coaching staff continuing to show trust in the junior back. Billups will play a pivotal role in SJP’s pursuit of yet another State Title.

are likely to station at running back beside Kendall and Tre at this event. That isn’t to take either likely, both are being trusted to catch balls out of the backfield, both can provide some open-field wiggle that can embarrass DBs/LBs who aren’t prepared. Rowe and Turner are likely to see the bulk of balls, yet watch for Billups and Slater forcing defenses to account for every area of the field.
