Jaasai Simmons Jaasai Simmons 6'2" | 215 lbs | DL Roman Catholic | 2025 State PA is an elite athlete who plays as an edge defender. He looks like he is shot out of a cannon when he gets off the ball and the way he gets into the offensive backfield. His 1st couple of steps are special from his stance. Then when he gets into the backfield he shows his speed by attacking the offense. He is a good tackler and ball carriers feel him when he tackles them. He also has good pass-rushing moves and uses them well. Simmons committed to Marshall recently, a perfect fit for him.

Jaasai Simmons Jaasai Simmons 6'2" | 215 lbs | DL Roman Catholic | 2025 State PA is a vicious football player for Roman Catholic. The 2025 prospect is a big name in Eastern PA. His recruitment was a fun one to pay attention to. Back on February 18th he picked up an offer from Akron University. Simmons followed that up with an offer from Marshall (2/8), Monmouth (3/13), Howard (5/2), and Maine (5/3). Simmons also took visits to Illinois (4/4), Indiana (4/5), Ohio State, Marshall (4/13), and Rutgers (4/20)

Ultimately Simmons decided on June 20th to commit to The Herd! Marshall University found a stud prospect in Jaasai. I’m excited about this Marshall class as they also added W. PA prospect John Wetzel John Wetzel 6'1" | 200 lbs | DB Greater Latrobe | 2025 State PA . I’m looking forward to seeing those two on the same defense.

NEWS – 2/8

Akron came through and offered both Toombs and Simmons. Simmons grades out slightly higher than Toombs strictly based on tape, which makes sense as to why Marshall also came through and offered Simmons on the same day as Akron. You talk about the standard the program has built, you talk about the track record of DL that come have walked the halls at Roman, both Toombs and Simmons are already ahead of the curve before the offers started coming in. Hard work on the field, in the classroom and weightroom, the right eyes will eventually find you, I’m a firm believer of this. Excited to see Simmons put on additional weight this offseason, not much is needed if I’m being honest, especially if he is getting recruited to play OLB.

The likes of Jah Jah Boyd, Mikey Preston Mikey Preston 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB Roman Catholic | 2024 State PA , Julian Green Julian Green 6'1" | 180 lbs | DB Roman Catholic | 2025 State PA , and William Felder have seen plenty of tick on our site. I’ve decided to highlight a few new defenders out of Roman that impressed me, a group that set the tone early in this easy win against Episcopal Academy.
Diabira, formerly out of Frankford and Lincoln, and Mykell Ford Mykell Ford 6'1" | 260 lbs | DL Roman Catholic | 2025 State PA , formerly out of Governor Mifflin, have both made their presences felt through three games. They each made plays when I attended their matchup last weekend. Diabira has a lot more dog in his than I give him credit for. In on tackles all throughout the field, a ton of displacement from his alignment pre-snap, this kid is a runner and brings a motor and energy with him. He scored on a scoop-and-score early in this one.
Jaasai Simmons made me think Jameial Lyons was on the field for a moment. That is after Simmons absolutely destroyed an EPA athlete on an end-around that he read like a book. This led to the first scoop-and-score of the first quarter.
Jameial Lyons’s don’t grow on trees, yet Roman has something cooking with Simmons, who is looking more filled out than ever.

If you’re working under the Roman Catholic coaching umbrella, I already assume a kid has potential to be unlocked. We are likely to see said potential on display this Fall, with Jaasai Simmons Jaasai Simmons 6'2" | 215 lbs | DL Roman Catholic | 2025 State PA likely seeing an extended role this coming season. Uncertain on role, EDGE or LB, as many Roman Catholic defenders provide alignment versatility. 6’2, 220, Simmons ranks alongside other EDGE prospects who have the look on paper, yet lack tape and production to back up a higher ranking. I’m interested in seeing how further along he’s come as a pass rusher, in terms of hand/leverage usage. Great build to develop under.
