makes one of the biggest debuts in this section of the rankings, jumping from unranked status to No. 82 overall. Recruiting has already started validating the evaluation, as he currently holds Division I offers from UMass and Akron. At 6’3, 226 pounds, Gholston possesses the size and athletic profile colleges want from front-seven defenders. He enters the rankings as one of the highest-rated new additions and immediately establishes himself as a serious prospect. In my opinion, he is the best edge defender featured in this particular group of rankings. Gholston should play a major role in Roman’s pursuit of another state championship this fall. Despite the early offers, I still believe there is not enough national attention surrounding his recruitment. This debut ranking feels justified today, but there is certainly room for him to push even higher moving forward.
6’3, 225 pounds. Blends the build of a potentially premiere EDGE/outside linebacker type. Roman Catholic knows how to develop athletic builds/freaks into real technically-sound football players that can be deemed college-ready as upperclassmen. Gholston might be next in line, he might fit that mold. Two minute sophomore tape briefly showcases Gholston’s motor and pursuit to the football. Can feel oversets from opposing OT, reads OL leverage pretty well based on what I’m seeing. I’m assuming he’s relatively experienced at this position, unless he’s a natural bender off the edge. Little tightness when attempting to change direction, he’s young and still improving so harldy an issue. Great intrigue here.
