Committed to West Virginia as of February 1st. Was one of the last Top 100 prospects left available after the first NSD wave. My rank shows how high I am on the kid. Preston’s range of scholarship opportunities varies dramatically, some say he’s a PSAC kid, and some, like myself, think he’s an FBS kid. Recent offers out of Charlotte and Shippensburg, Preston eventually pulled the trigger on a great opportunity with the Mountaineers. Douglas County’s Jacob Boyce is an early enrollee at CB, WV also brought in PA prospect Jason Cross, who is likely to also play DB.

Jackson, formerly out of Simon Gratz, announced his commitment to Shippensburg University on January 26th. Where does Jackson stand among Ship commits? Shippensburg, as of NSD 2/7, has brought in five defensive linemen, with Jackson ranking behind Central Dauphin’s I’zhior Moon I’zhior Moon 6’3″ | 280 lbs | DL Central Dauphin | 2024 State PA and Marian Catholic’s James Rodino James Rodino 6’3″ | 230 lbs | DL Marian Catholic HighSchool | 2024 State PA . SU might explore/experiment with Jackson the offensive lineman, yet I fully expect the program to make use if this young man’s phenomenal frame/build. SU’s OL class is a hefty one too.

Ranked inside the top 250 (account bugged), Devin Johnson announced his commitment to Wagner University, who annually gets a steal commit out of PA. Johnson might be that man for Wagner Football. Piscataway’s Malik Wilson is also an OL commit, brought in two winters ago, with Wagner bringing in six OL commits after the first NSD back in December. Great insurance piece, one that could surprise the coaching staff early. Hoping for the best moving forward.

Dazhaun Hopkins (account bugged) was recently ranked inside the Top350 after our senior update this past post-season. The DB announced his commitment to Duquesne University during the last week of January. Hopkins, who is a bit underrated on our site, should be listed as an “ATH” especially considering Duquesne apparently likes him at running back. Knowing Hopkins’ full skillset, this makes sense. Hopkins joins Hoban’s (OH) Caleb Jones as the duo of backs brought in among 2024 recuits.
No news regarding Roman’s Jahmir Diabira Jahmir Diabira 6’0″ | 225 lbs | DL Roman Catholic | 2024 State PA , which is both surprising and head-scratching. I’m obviously not in the complete know, I am not positive what grades are like, yet I do know the standard that is set in the program. I do know of the quality tape this young man put out on Hudl this past Fall. I’ve seen him in person on more than two occasions, presence was felt each time. I like the kid enough to rank him inside the Top 200, practically a Division One grade. Maybe many question his size, that’s a question that varies among particular suitors, especially ones that want him playing in the front-seven. He’s a kid I’d bet on, however. If he isn’t a collegiate LB, I’m sure a program could utilize his skillset on offense in a creative fashion. Time will tell, I preach patience.

Just 15 PA 2025 prospects have announced their commitments thus far. Two of the fifteen have announced their future intentions to join the 2025 recruiting class at Duke University. One, being Top 10 prospect Cam Smith Cam Smith 6’1″ | 200 lbs | LB St. Joseph’s Prep | 2025 State PA out of SJP, the other, being top five defensive back William Felder. Felder joins Georgia’s Ma’Khi Jones as the lone DB commits early through the 2025 process. Neither Jones or Will Felder are ranked as three-stars, which is head-scratching.

Julian Green Julian Green 6’1″ | 180 lbs | DB Roman Catholic | 2025 State PA continues to show off elite skills in the classroom, maintaining an impressive 4.87 GPA, as well as first honors accolades seemingly every marking period. Said work in the classroom is paying off. Since January 22nd, Julian Green Julian Green 6’1″ | 180 lbs | DB Roman Catholic | 2025 State PA has picked up three Ivy League offers, UPenn, Columbia, and Yale among the three. A young man who has spent some time on FBS boards in the past, someone is going to get a special young man on and off the field. Green took a Junior Day visit close to home at UPenn on the third of this month.

Excited to see a young man given an FBS grade, while seeing said grade come to life in the form of a scholarship offer. Coach Nyeem Wartman, the DL Coach out of Akron, has done his part recruiting the right names out of Philadelphia. Lazaryus Toombs Lazaryus Toombs 6’3″ | 230 lbs | DL Roman Catholic | 2025 State PA is an ideal offer candidate, he recently spoke with Wartman just a week prior to writing, with Wartman extending the 6’3, 235-pound DE an scholly offer. Toombs missed the top 20 DL cut by one spot, yet he’s likely to see more G5s call his number soon. Expect Temple and the likes of Marshall/Charlotte to inquire before or during Spring.
NEWS – 2/8
Akron came through and offered both Toombs and Simmons. Simmons grades out slightly higher than Toombs strictly based on tape, which makes sense as to why Marshall also came through and offered Simmons on the same day as Akron. You talk about the standard the program has built, you talk about the track record of DL that come have walked the halls at Roman, both Toombs and Simmons are already ahead of the curve before the offers started coming in. Hard work on the field, in the classroom and weightroom, the right eyes will eventually find you, I’m a firm believer of this. Excited to see Simmons put on additional weight this offseason, not much is needed if I’m being honest, especially if he is getting recruited to play OLB.

One of the few rankings I ever changed mid-update. His rank now stands correct. I’ve seen the young man working hard everywhere. Whether it be at one-off camps, our camp series, or Ed O’Brien’s All-State Preps. Whether it be back at home fine-tuning his game against some of the best athletes in Philly, I see the young man working. No substantial recruiting news quite yet, but the young man is putting in the work necessary, hope he keeps his head down and keeps developing.

Akron focused heavy on 2025s across Philadelphia recently. Yet I’m thankful Coach Wartman saw Eyan Stead’s capabilities and offered him despite being a current underclassman. I have gone on record saying Stead is a true Power Five prospect, I’ll stand on that still. I’m a bit surprised more schools aren’t honing in on his skillset at corner, kid carries quality tape too. That being said, there’s plenty of time ahead of the young, highly-ranked DB. Hardly any time to panic. I personally would be a bit quicker to jump on Stead.

Ash Roberts Ash Roberts 5’10” | 160 lbs | WR Roman Catholic | 2026 State PA is right in the mix with the rest of his teammates. Consistently working on his craft this off-season. Roberts received an offer out of Akron back in Mid-January, while also receiving an offer out of Wisconsin earlier this month. The Big10 offer out of Head Coach Luke Fickell and staff was a fantastic way to start the new year, with the top-ranked pass-catcher firmly cementing his place at the top of the board. Fully expecting the likes of South Carolina and Kentucly to knock on the Ash Roberts Ash Roberts 5’10” | 160 lbs | WR Roman Catholic | 2026 State PA door at some point, especially after they see him run again. He carries SEC speed.

Checking back in on top quarterback prospect Semaj Beals Semaj Beals 6’1″ | 155 lbs | QB Roman Catholic | 2026 State PA , impressed after doing so each time. 2024 started off with a HC Curt Cignetti endorsement in the form of a scholarship offer. Another Big10 program stepped in just two weeks later and added their name to the long list of suitors clamoring for Beals’ skills, that being the University of Illinois. Akron added Beals to the offer sheet after offering many Cahillites this Winter. The “big” splash came on February 5th, when Colorado picked up the phone and offered Beals. I’d make the case that every offer that comes through Beals’ way is special, yet hearing from the Buffs likely left the sophomore QB buzzing a bit. Major congrats from us over at PRZ.
