The 2024 football season is in the books and we've spent the month of January recapping a wild year in high school football. This week, it's All State week on Prep Redzone Oklahoma! Today, we unveil our All State 1st Team selections. On Tuesday, our 2nd Team will be released, followed by the 3rd Team on Wednesday and all of our honorable mentions on Thursday! Finally, at the end of the week we'll recognize our Prep Redzone Oklahoma Player Of The Year for 2024. And spoiler alert, he's one of the players on this breakdown. This season, Carl Albert led the way with four selections to our All State 1st Team. Bixby, Jenks, Muskogee and Owasso all had multiple selections.

OFFENSE

QB - [player_tooltip player_id='211556' first='Jamarian' last='Ficklin'] - Senior - Muskogee

Muskogee senior quarterback and Utah signee [player_tooltip player_id='211556' first='Jamarian' last='Ficklin'] has been one of the state's best players for the last two years, let alone the top quarterback in the state. This season, Ficklin finished off a memorable career by eclipsing 10,000 yards and over 100 touchdowns for his career. He also helped guide the Roughers back to the 6A-2 state championship game.

RB - [player_tooltip player_id='434307' first='Barrett' last='Travis'] - Senior - Heritage Hall

Heritage Hall senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='434307' first='Barrett' last='Travis'] rewrote the record book at Heritage Hall this season. He finished the year with a school-record 2,166 yards and 29 touchdowns on the ground. He was also a threat out of the backfield as a receiver and on defense as well as special teams. Travis waited for his moment to really star in the Charger offense and he absolutely did that in 2024.

RB - [player_tooltip player_id='402378' first='KD' last='Jones'] - Junior - Jenks

Jenks junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='402378' first='KD' last='Jones'] continues to be arguably the best overall playmaker in the state's junior class. This season, Jones would finish with just shy of 1,500 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground but he was also valuable as a receiver out of the backfield. Jones has a chance to start rewriting the record book at Jenks during his senior season in 2025 and that will be something to watch.

RB - [player_tooltip player_id='424595' first='Masyn' last='Wright'] - Junior - Vian

Vian junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='424595' first='Masyn' last='Wright'] absolutely exploded as one of the state's best players in 2024. As we mentioned multiple times during the season, Wright was a player where he was literally a threat to score the majority of the times he touched the ball. Wright finished the year with a little over 2,100 yards and 36 touchdowns on the ground as Vian finished as 2A-2 Runner Up.

WR - [player_tooltip player_id='353415' first='Elijah' last='Thomas'] - Senior - Checotah

Checotah senior and Oklahoma signee [player_tooltip player_id='353415' first='Elijah' last='Thomas'] is an All State 1st Team selection for the second consecutive season. This year, Thomas might have been the most impactful player in the state when you look over all the numbers. He finished with just over 1,800 yards and 26 touchdowns as a receiver. He also scored ten touchdowns on the ground and had over 80 tackles and four interceptions on defense.

TE - [player_tooltip player_id='353411' first='Nate' last='Roberts'] - Senior - Washington

Washington senior and Ohio State signee [player_tooltip player_id='353411' first='Nate' last='Roberts'] finished off a very successful high school career with another state championship. Roberts finished his senior season with nearly 1,000 yards receiving and 14 touchdowns from the tight end position. But you can make the argument that Roberts routinely played at his best in some of Washington's toughest games.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='629029' first='Antoni' last='Kade Ogumoro'] - Senior - Elgin

Elgin senior offensive lineman and Tennessee signee [player_tooltip player_id='629029' first='Antoni' last='Kade Ogumoro'] made the most of his only season of Oklahoma HS football. After moving from North Carolina, Ogumoro became one part of an Elgin offensive line that was one of the best units in the state. Ogumoro and this dominant offensive line helped pave the way to the school's first state championship in program history.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='350246' first='Blake' last='Cherry'] - Senior - Owasso

Owasso senior offensive lineman and Arkansas signee [player_tooltip player_id='350246' first='Blake' last='Cherry'] is the first of two Rams on the All State First Team. That fact should come as no surprise to those that have followed high school football over the last few years. Cherry has been a highly regarded OL prospect since the end of his freshman season. And you can make a strong argument that Owasso had the best O-Line in the state.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='328129' first='Broderick' last='Shull'] - Senior - Bixby

Bixby senior offensive lineman and Auburn signee [player_tooltip player_id='328129' first='Broderick' last='Shull'] continued the long line of dominating Bixby offensive linemen. Over the last decade, the Spartans have routinely had one or two guys on the line of scrimmage that could absolutely maul opponents and Shull was the guy this season. After moving from Missouri before the 2023 season, Shull became one of Oklahoma's best.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='1187309' first='Miguel' last='Chavez'] - Senior - Muskogee

Muskogee senior offensive lineman and Oklahoma State signee Miguez Chavez really excelled this season. He emerged last season as a name to keep an eye on and just continued to get better and better every time he stepped on the field. Protecting Ficklin's blind side, Chavez led a rebuilt Muskogee offensive line that really did a good job throughout the 2024 football season.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='350245' first='Ryker' last='Haff'] - Senior - Owasso

Owasso senior offensive lineman and Oklahoma State signee [player_tooltip player_id='350245' first='Ryker' last='Haff'] is the other Ram that made it on the All State 1st Team. Just like we mentioned with Cherry, Haff has been the other part of that Owasso duo that has grabbed headlines since the end of their freshman seasons. Haff and the rest of this Owasso offensive line paved the way for arguably the most balanced offense in the state.

DEFENSE

DL - [player_tooltip player_id='1078310' first='Brayden' last='Knox'] - Senior - Putnam City

Putnam City senior defensive lineman and North Texas signee [player_tooltip player_id='1078310' first='Brayden' last='Knox'] has been an absolute force on the front seven of Putnam City's defense for a few years now. Knox finished off his high school career with another dominant season. He had 70 tackles with 25 of them coming behind the line of scrimmage. He also finished his senior season with 14 sacks on the year.

DL - [player_tooltip player_id='473952' first='Joseph' last='Graves'] - Sophomore - Booker T Washington

Booker T Washington sophomore defensive tackle [player_tooltip player_id='473952' first='Joseph' last='Graves'] is the first of two sophomores to make this year's All State First Team. Graves was one of the more dominant players that we watched in person during the fall. If Graves wasn't getting into the backfield and causing mayhem, he was being held. Those were really the only two options that we saw when watching him in 2024.

DL - [player_tooltip player_id='1179991' first='Tajh' last='Overton'] - Junior - Owasso

Owasso junior defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1179991' first='Tajh' last='Overton'] enjoyed a breakout season while lining up on a very talented Owasso defensive line. Overton was very similar to Graves where he was just an absolute handful for opposing offensive linemen to deal with on the interior. Defensive tackles don't have some of the flashy stats that defensive ends get but Overton was one of the more disruptive guys in the state.

LB - [player_tooltip player_id='595746' first='Behrett' last='Boyd'] - Senior - Norman

Norman senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='595746' first='Behrett' last='Boyd'] has been one of the more underrated linebackers in the state but not with us. He's been an absolute dude for the Tigers and he finished off his career strong. Boyd had over 130 tackles with 35 coming behind the line of scrimmage and he also finished with nearly ten sacks. Boyd was one of the best athletes at the linebacker position this season.

LB - [player_tooltip player_id='353419' first='Caden' last='Davis'] - Senior - Carl Albert

Carl Albert senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='353419' first='Caden' last='Davis'] is used to being in this position. This is the third consecutive season that Davis has been an All State 1st Team selection for us. He was a critical piece this season to arguably the best defense in the state. He finished with over 150 tackles and 29 TFL with eight sacks. As a short yardage running back, Davis also added 12 touchdowns on the ground.

LB - [player_tooltip player_id='255022' first='Cooper' last='Parker'] - Senior - Bixby

Bixby senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='255022' first='Cooper' last='Parker'] helped guide the Spartans to their seventh consecutive state championship on both sides of the ball. He was one of the best linebackers in the state with 110 tackles but he also was their run-first quarterback on offense. He led the Spartans with 723 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground and he scored the game-winning two-point conversion in overtime of the state title game.

LB - [player_tooltip player_id='1096341' first='Sam' last='Stone'] - Senior - Jenks

Jenks senior linebacker and Tulsa signee [player_tooltip player_id='1096341' first='Sam' last='Stone'] finished off his career as one of the more decorated defenders in school history. Stone finished the season with 95 tackles and would cap his career with a little over 350 tackles for his career, which was good enough to put him at second all time in Jenks history. Stone has been a strong player for a while but now his name is in the record books.

DB - [player_tooltip player_id='402375' first='Evenson' last='Malaska'] - Junior - Bethany

Bethany junior cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='402375' first='Evenson' last='Malaska'] returned to the field in 2024 and reminded everyone on why he's one of the top defensive backs in the state's junior class. After missing the 2023 season, Malaska returned with a vengeance in 2024. He returned to the field and took back his spot as one of the top lockdown corners in the state. He's a player that offenses look to avoid.

DB - [player_tooltip player_id='478124' first='Semaj' last='Stanford'] - Sophomore - Jenks

Jenks sophomore safety [player_tooltip player_id='478124' first='Semaj' last='Stanford'] has been considered one of the state's best players since he burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2023. Stanford led the team in tackles with a little over 100 on the season. Jenks coaches have raved about Stanford's advanced IQ on the field and it has put him in a position to be one of the best overall defenders in the state.

DB - [player_tooltip player_id='288687' first='Shepherd' last='Sisemore'] - Senior - Plainview

Plainview senior [player_tooltip player_id='288687' first='Shepherd' last='Sisemore'] has been a player on our radar for a long time and he's been a legitimate two-way threat for Plainview over the last few years. But Sisemore really elevated his game to new heights in 2024 as a safety and he gets the nod for the First Team selection. And similar to a lot of players on this breakdown, it seemed like Sisemore played his best against the toughest opponents.

DB - [player_tooltip player_id='598824' first='Trystan' last='Haynes'] - Senior - Carl Albert

Carl Albert senior and Oklahoma signee [player_tooltip player_id='598824' first='Trystan' last='Haynes'] could fit on this All State team in several different categories. He was their top playmaker at the wide receiver position, a lockdown corner on defense and a dynamic kick returner. But we're going with defense here as Haynes was another valuable part of this Carl Albert defense that will go down as arguably the best unit in program history.

KICKER/ATHLETES

K - [player_tooltip player_id='615813' first='Ethan' last='Spiwak'] - Senior - Carl Albert

Carl Albert senior kicker [player_tooltip player_id='615813' first='Ethan' last='Spiwak'] finished off his career as one of the best kickers in school history. Now, the Titans weren't settling for field goals very often but Spiwak was automatic on PAT's and then he became a weapon on the kickoff. Carl Albert never really had to worry about an opponent taking a kick back because Spiwak was routinely booting the ball into the end zone.

ATH - [player_tooltip player_id='215570' first='Brady' last='McAdoo'] - Senior - Tuttle

Tuttle senior [player_tooltip player_id='215570' first='Brady' last='McAdoo'] was the definition of an "all purpose" weapon this season for the Tigers. He was one of the team's leading receivers, finishing with 16 touchdowns. He also had five rushing touchdowns, four punt returns for scores and was one of the state's best punters. He also had nearly 50 tackles and a pair of interceptions on defense. He was truly impactful in every phase of the game.

ATH - [player_tooltip player_id='593641' first='Caleb' last='Hawkins'] - Senior - North Rock Creek

North Rock Creek senior and North Texas signee [player_tooltip player_id='593641' first='Caleb' last='Hawkins'] came up short on the playoffs but he was still hands down one of the best players in Oklahoma this year. In just ten games, Hawkins would run for more than 1,500 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also had over 400 yards receiving and three touchdowns. He would record over 100 tackles and countless turnovers on defense as well.

ATH - [player_tooltip player_id='530573' first='Kale' last='Charboneau'] - Senior - Wagoner

Wagoner senior [player_tooltip player_id='530573' first='Kale' last='Charboneau'] might have had the best season in terms of two-way players in the state this season. His impact and numbers as Wagoner's quarterback and linebacker is pretty remarkable. He threw for over 3,100 yards and 27 touchdowns while also adding over 700 yards and 26 touchdowns on the ground. Charboneau also had over 100 tackles and 30 TFL on defense.

ATH - [player_tooltip player_id='806158' first='Trey' last='Bennett'] - Senior - Woodland

Woodland senior standout [player_tooltip player_id='806158' first='Trey' last='Bennett'] helped guide the Cougars to the state championship as they went wire to wire as Class A-2's top team. Bennett was an excellent dual-threat quarterback, accounting for over 2,300 yards and 33 touchdowns passing while also adding 13 touchdowns on the ground. Bennett would also finish the year with five interceptions from his safety position on defense.

ATH - [player_tooltip player_id='294261' first='Trey' last='Washington'] - Senior - Carl Albert

Carl Albert senior and Oklahoma signee [player_tooltip player_id='294261' first='Trey' last='Washington'] began his high school career as a standout wide receiver when he was a freshman. He would emerge over the last three years as much more than that. He was not only an impactful player on offense but he was another part of Carl Albert's dangerous defense and one of the more underrated punters in the state. Even though Carl Albert didn't punt much.
