BETHANY 36, JONES 29

It was one of the top games coming into week two and it certainly lived up to the building. Bethany would knock off Jones 36-29 in a match-up that featured two top ten teams in their respective classes but it was 4A over 2A-1 on Friday night. jones would score with around a minute to play to tie the game up but that was too much time left in regulation. The Bronchos immediately responded with less than a minute to go for what would be the game-winning touchdown. Bethany quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='917666' first='Jackson' last='Payne'] had a terrific game and Jones quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1179996' first='Acyn' last='Hansen'] also performed at a very high level. The Longhorns came up short but he had a great game.

BLANCHARD 14, NEWCASTLE 10

Defending 4A champion Blanchard found themselves in an absolute fight with Newcastle on Friday night. The Lions opened up their home slate for the 2024 season with a 14-10 victory over a Newcastle team that is now in Class 5A but they were district foes for the last few years. And the Racers had a couple opportunities to secure the upset win but the Blanchard defense came up big inside their own 10-yard line late in the fourth quarter. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1100200' first='Coric' last='Pierce'] was the hero for the Lions as he caught the game-winning touchdown with a little over a minute to play. The 4A champs survived while Newcastle now turns the page but has another tough game in week three.

BROKEN BOW 42, IDABEL 21

Broken Bow might be flying under the radar right now in Class 4A but that's a big mistake for the rest of the class. The Savages are 2-1 after a dominant second half performance over Idabel. They would beat their southeastern Oklahoma rival 42-21 after outscoring them 21-7 in the second half to run away with the victory. Broken Bow's only loss this year was a week zero set back to McAlester. And if you haven't heard of the name [player_tooltip player_id='1525562' first='Greydon' last='Howell'] yet, get used to seeing that name. Through three games, arguably nobody in the state has put up the numbers that Howell has at the quarterback position. He's just a sophomore but he already looks like a breakout star.

CASHION 18, RINGLING 6

This was one of the more underrated games of week two as Cashion faced off with Ringling in a rematch of the 2019 and 2021 Class A state championship games. Cashion got the best of the Blue Devils on Friday night with an 18-6 victory. There were two stories to come out of this victory for the Wildcats. First, the defense completely contained Ringling and forced multiple turnovers. Then you look at the offense and sophomore quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1524930' first='Kellen' last='Smith'] had a really good game. He finished the night with nearly 100 passing yards but had over 200 yards on the ground. Cashion dropped a game last week to Velma-Alma but bounced back in a major way.

CLAREMORE SEQUOYAH 31, KANSAS 6

Claremore Sequoyah nearly knocked off a top ten team in Class 2A-2 last week in their season opener but they left no doubt this week. After falling to Colcord in week one, they bounced back with a big win over Kansas, winning 31-6. The Eagles have started the season against two teams that were not only ranked but ranked in the top five of our Class 2A-2 rankings. So with that information, it's time to start taking Claremore Sequoyah a little more seriously in Class 3A. And when you look ahead to their district, it's one that the Eagles should have success in. Cascia Hall might be the favorite right now but after that, anybody could end up climbing the standings and making noise.

CLINTON 30, KINGFISHER 27 (OT)

Clinton knocked off Kingfisher 30-27 in an overtime classic on Friday night. This game was close throughout but the Red Tornadoes would get the victory in the extra period. There were plenty of fireworks in this one but none bigger than the [player_tooltip player_id='901851' first='Zaedon' last='Collins'] touchdown run in overtime to give Clinton the win. Kingfisher got the ball first but the Clinton defense would come up big, limiting Kingfisher to a field goal. From there, Collins had a chance to play the hero. He would race in for the game-winning touchdown and the Red Tornadoes are off to a 2-0 start and the two-headed monster of Collins and [player_tooltip player_id='1088882' first='Kyn'Tavion' last='Hill'] looks to be like a dangerous one to defend.

CUSHING 23, PERKINS-TRYON 13

Cushing took back control of this rivalry with Perkins-Tryon after knocking off the Demons 23-13 on Friday night. The Tigers are now 3-0 and the defense has looked absolutely dominant through the first three weeks of the season. Cushing actually trailed 13-0 at halftime on Friday night but the defense went to work, shutting down the Demons in the final two quarters while the offense came alive and ran away with this rivalry win. Now, Cushing takes this week off before opening up district play. And while Wagoner is the favorite in this district, it would be unwise to overlook this Cushing squad. For Perkins-Tryon, they'll look to bounce back in week three.

DEER CREEK 35, NORMAN NORTH 10

In April, Deer Creek was unexpectedly bumped up to Class 6A-1. It hasn't been a problem. The Antlers have looked really good through their first three games this season and show no signs of slowing down. Last week, they absolutely dominated the fourth quarter in a runaway win over Edmond Memorial. This week, they just dominated Norman North from the start with a 35-10 victory over the visiting Timberwolves. The three-headed monster on offense of quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='242231' first='Grady' last='Adamson'] running back [player_tooltip player_id='402380' first='Lemar' last='Davis'] and wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='894347' first='Mason' last='Smith'] is going to be a tough one to stop for opponents and on Friday night, it looked like they were clicking on all cylinders.

FORT GIBSON 28, HILLDALE 13

In the battle for "The Rock" it was Fort Gibson coming out on top with rival Hilldale on Friday night. The Tigers pulled away late with a 28-13 victory behind defense and special teams. Hilldale scored a touchdown to make it 14-13 but the Tigers blocked the extra point to hold on to the lead. And in the final two minutes, the Tigers took advantage of two Hilldale mistakes. The Tigers had not one, but two interception returns for touchdowns in the final two minutes to run away with the 15-point win. Fort Gibson has gotten off to a 2-0 start and the Tigers look good. We can't help but look ahead to the week four showdown with perennial powerhouse Wagoner.

GARDNER EDGERTON, KS. 66, CHOCTAW 44

On Thursday night, Choctaw went up to Kansas and came up short to defending champion Gardner Edgerton. The Yellowjackets fell 66-44 after the Trail Blazers ran away with this one in the second half. But the first half featured plenty of fireworks. Gardner Edgerton led 31-14 at one point in the first half but the Yellowjackets would have a furious rally that ended with a touchdown on the final play of the second quarter and they only trailed 38-36 at halftime. Ultimately, they lost by 22 points but this is arguably the best team in Kansas and Choctaw showed a lot despite coming up short. But a big test looms in week three as they'll host Oklahoma power Bixby.

LINCOLN CHRISTIAN 38, SHILOH CHRISTIAN, AR. 14

There are few teams in Oklahoma that have gotten off to as good of a start as Lincoln Christian this season. The 3A top-ranked and defending champs are 3-0 following a 38-14victory over Arkansas powerhouse Shiloh Christian. The Bulldogs were led by their dominant defense once again and this comes a week after a 28-20 win over Heritage Hall on the road. The Bulldogs had not one, but two interceptions that they took back for touchdowns on Friday night. Lincoln Christian has gotten off to a great start this season and the defending champions are definitely the team to beat in Class 3A. They take this week off before opening district play in week four.

McALESTER 10, ADA 2

It was the 99th meeting between rivals Ada and McAlester and this year's meeting definitely added a different chapter to the rivalry. This game was 3-2 in favor of McAlester at halftime in what has to be one of the lowest scoring first half scores in the history of this rivalry. The Buffaloes would get an 82-yard touchdown from Kacin Mazey to [player_tooltip player_id='1175581' first='Brandon' last='Smith'] in the second half and the Buffaloes would play outstanding defense to get out of week two with the 10-2 victory. Following a tough loss to Poteau, the Buffaloes would bounce back with the win over Ada. For the Cougars, they are looking to bounce back after a tough start to the 2024 campaign.

METRO CHRISTIAN 21, CASCIA HALL 14

When you look at some of the stats and box score from this one, the final score might be a little confusing. There were nearly 600 combined passing yards between these two teams but it was a relatively low-scoring game with Metro Christian knocking off Cascia Hall 21-14. Both teams had plenty of success throwing the ball but scoring came at a premium and this is a big win for a Metro Christian team that has expectations of contending in Class 2A-1 this season. Metro Christian quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1292050' first='Kincayde' last='Eng'] had a breakout game for the Patriots, putting up big numbers and this definitely feels like a statement win for him and the Patriots moving forward.

MINCO 26, APACHE 14

After a tough loss to Dibble in week one, Minco would bounce back in a major way by knocking off Apache on the road in week two. The Bulldogs would beat Apache 26-14 and that puts them at 2-1 on the season and looking like a team that can definitely make some noise in their district and the class in general. For Apache, it's time for the Warriors to bounce back but the next month of their schedule features some of the top opponents on the schedule. We think that both of these teams have a chance to make some noise in their respective classes. Whether it's Minco in Class A-1 or Apache in Class A-2, both have the potential to contend for the district crown.

MUSKOGEE 49, BENTONVILLE WEST, AR. 48

There's something about Muskogee playing Arkansas schools early on this season. They needed some late game heroics to beat Rogers in the final minute last week and they needed more this week against Bentonville West. The Roughers improved to 3-0 with a 49-48 victory but it came down to the final plays. Just like at the end of the 2023 season in the semifinals and championship game, the Roughers would need to stop a two-point conversion to get the win. The defense held and the Roughers wrapped up non-district play with a 3-0 record. Senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='515901' first='PJ' last='Wallace'] had a big game for the Roughers with nearly 200 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

MUSTANG 49, BROKEN ARROW 48 (OT)

Coming into the week, we thought the Broken Arrow-Mustang game could be one of the better match-ups of week two and it certainly lived up to the hype. Mustang knocked off the Tigers 49-48 in overtime to improve to 2-0 on the young season while the Tigers have now dropped their last two games. The Broncos would have to rally at the end of regulation to have a chance to win the game in overtime. They scored with 14 seconds left to send the game to OT. They would score first and after Broken Arrow responded, they went for two and the win but came up short on the goal line. Mustang senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='998363' first='Trajan' last='Williamson'] was lights out for the second straight week.

PAWHUSKA 46, HOMINY 24

Pawhuska has jumped out to a 3-0 start and they are certainly living up to some of the preseason hype as a top five team in Class A-1. They rolled to a 46-24 victory over rival Hominy on Friday night. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='968318' first='Canyon' last='Hindman'] had a really big night and that comes after last week where they had a very balanced offensive attack. Hindman put up big numbers in the win and that's what should worry the rest of Class A-1 moving forward. When Matt Hennesy-coached teams have a strong and productive quarterback, they are usually going to be one of the top teams in their class. The Huskies are rolling while the Bucks now look to regroup and bounce back.

SULPHUR 42, DAVIS 7

Both of these rivals were looking to bounce back following disappointing season openers in week one. Sulphur lost a heartbreaker in double overtime to Washington while Davis was handled by Pauls Valley. The Bulldogs bounced back in a major way with a 42-7 victory over Davis on Friday night and this was a game that the Bulldogs really controlled from the start. And anytime you get a win in a rivalry game, let a lone a bounce back win, it's going to be a good feeling. Davis could very well start this season at 0-3 and we won't budge them in our 2A-2 rankings. We think the Wolves are a very good team but they are playing an absolutely brutal non-district schedule.

UNION 9, JENKS 3

Union outlasted Jenks in one of the lowest scoring games between these two teams in the history of this impressive rivalry. The Redhawks would beat Jenks 9-3 and survived two Jenks drives in the final four minutes that allowed them to bounce back from last week's overtime loss to Stillwater. Union took advantage of Jenks miscues with the snaps throughout the night and we'll call it what it is. They got a little help from the officials on Friday night. But another storyline was the fact that they held a Jenks offense that has plenty of firepower out of the end zone. For a complete recap and breakdown, check out our article from earlier in the weekend.

VIAN 45, KIEFER 14

Vian squared off with Kiefer on Friday night and took care of business with a 45-15 victory over the Trojans. The 2A-2 top-ranked Wolverines have certainly looked like the team to beat in this class and on Friday night, they were incredibly balanced on the offensive side of the ball. They had a good showing from their quarterback as well as some of their other skill players, including junior star [player_tooltip player_id='424595' first='Masyn' last='Wright'] as he was a big problem as a runner and as a receiver. Kiefer now looks to bounce back from an 0-2 start following last year's trip to the semifinals while the Wolverines get ready for a showdown with a Pocola team that isn't lacking star power.
