Senior quarterback Jackson Payne Jackson Payne 6'3" | QB Bethany | 2025 State OK had big shoes to fill last year as he stepped into the role of Taylor Heim after he graduated. Payne would answer the call and had a strong season as a QB and as a safety on defense. Offensively, Payne would throw for over 1,500 yards and 17 touchdowns. He would also add over 40 tackles and three interceptions on the defensive side of the ball. This season, with all the talent that Bethany has coming back in the skill departments, it’s not crazy to think that Payne’s production will also see a spike this fall. Payne comes into the season as one of the quarterbacks to watch in Class 4A and we’re looking forward to seeing what kind of numbers he puts up.

Bethany is an interesting team to watch in the 4A playoffs. They have been one of the better teams in Class 4A all season but found themselves in the toughest district in the class. Junior quarterback Jackson Payne Jackson Payne 6'3" | QB Bethany | 2025 State OK will lead Bethany into a first round rematch with Clinton on Friday night. These two teams played an overtime classic in the first round last year. Payne has been playing really good football down the stretch of the regular season. They have a very balanced offense but we’ve liked how Payne has taken care of the ball in the last month of the season. They’ll look to avenge last year’s loss this week.

One of the biggest question marks around Bethany this season is how they replace all of the production on the offensive side of the ball and specifically from the quarterback position. The frontrunner for that position is 2025 Jackson Payne Jackson Payne 6'3" | QB Bethany | 2025 State OK who has good size at 6’3 and saw some action last season as the third string quarterback. While Bethany worked with two quarterbacks at various times last season, we won’t be surprised to see them just stick with one quarterback this season. Last year and the year before that was a unique position as they had an athlete in Heim that gave them plenty of versatility at multiple positions. If Payne ends up winning the job and is QB1 this season, we’ll be interested in seeing what kind of production he has this fall.
