put together a season that’s hard to top, especially considering it was his first full year as a varsity starter. Arguably, no freshman quarterback in New Jersey had a bigger impact.
From the outset, Tagliaferri looked comfortable running the Bergen Catholic offense. He finished the season with over 2,200 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, and just three interceptions, showing efficiency, maturity, and command well beyond his years.
What separates him is the variety he brings to the position. He operates effectively from under center and the shotgun. He throws well on the move. He attacks every level of the field — outside the numbers, over the middle, and vertically. Moreover, when plays break down, he can buy time, extend drives, and use his legs to pick up first downs.
From a holistic standpoint, Tagliaferri is one of the most well-rounded quarterbacks in the state. The mental processing, physical tools, and poise are all evident on film. That said, the next area of growth is handling consistent pressure, particularly against aggressive defenses like Don Bosco’s. Still, given that this was his first year starting, that development feels inevitable.
The award was well deserved. Tagliaferri already holds offers from Illinois, Ole Miss, and Rutgers, and with continued growth, that list is only expected to expand. Moving forward, his trajectory remains firmly upward.
My full sophomore season highlights. Thank you to my team this year and my coaches for helping us have a great season. I love this team and loved everyone on it. Thank you seniors for everything.

has been outstanding this season. The Bergen Catholic signal-caller has thrown for just under 2,000 yards and 24 touchdowns, leading his team back into position to compete for another Non-Public A championship run. His combination of poise, precision, and aggressiveness has made him one of New Jersey’s top young quarterbacks.
This year, Trey’s recruitment has taken a major leap. He’s earned offers from Syracuse, Rutgers, Illinois, Kent State, and Wofford—but the biggest came this past weekend when Ole Miss became the first SEC program to offer him. Trey also visited Oxford, where he gained valuable exposure to a major conference environment.
Tagliaferri stands out for his ability to stay calm under pressure, deliver deep throws with accuracy, and push the ball downfield without forcing mistakes. With an SEC offer now on the table, Trey’s trajectory is pointing straight up. Expect more Power Five interest to follow soon as he continues proving he’s one of the premier quarterbacks in New Jersey.

delivered a performance that backed up every bit of preseason buzz. The freshman quarterback threw three touchdowns, showing poise beyond his years. He consistently attacked down the field with accuracy and touch, proving he could challenge defenses deep. What stood out most was his command of the offense — especially in a two-minute drill where he kept everything on time and mistake-free. Tagliaferri looked like a complete quarterback, operating within the system but also making big plays when needed. This game was a clear statement about his preparation, polish, and high ceiling as Bergen Catholic’s new leader under center.

steps into a huge role for Bergen Catholic, taking over for Dominic Campanile after his four consecutive state titles. Trey brings a different element with his legs, showing he can extend plays and create on the ground. At the same time, he fits into Bergen’s rhythm-based offense, proving he can operate with timing and precision.
What stands out is his ability to push the ball downfield with accuracy and make throws out of structure. At 6’1”, 160 pounds, he’s primed for his breakout moment. Facing East St. Louis, the No. 1 team in Illinois, Trey will have the opportunity to demonstrate that he’s ready to lead Bergen Catholic into its next era. This game could be his official coming-out party. He currently has one D1 offer from Wofford.

If I’m starting a team of 2028 prospects from New Jersey, it would extremely difficult for me to not have Tagliaferri on the roster as a Quarterback. For just entering seventh-grade, he is an extremely mature young man who is very serious about the game of football. Was able to watch him compete closely this summer and whether he threw a beautiful touchdown pass or an interception, his demeanor wouldn’t change. There’s an “It-Factor” to the young righty, that few at this level possess. He should have every private school in New Jersey wanting him to suit up in a few years. Lastly, his older sister Frankie was a two-time All-American soccer player in college, and is now playing professionally or the NC Courage of the National Women’s Soccer League.
