Appearing to spell on varsity as a sophomore, Hackney get off is a bit inconsistent, but he makes up for with pure hustle and will power. At the line of scrimmage, Hackney fights hard to create separation and space from offensive lineman so he can shed and pursue; at his best moments, we see him walk defenders backwards. A consistent winner of 1on1 matchups, Hackney’s film will improve as it shows him squeezing and playing double teams.

If you are looking for sound tackling, KJ Hackney KJ Hackney 6'1" | 250 lbs | DL Bergen Catholic | 2027 State NJ does just that. Hackney does an outstanding job keeping his feet buzzing through contact when taking down ball carriers. At his best, Hackney’s get off is outstanding – albeit a bit inconsistent right now. A hustler, the 2027 graduate will bust his tail as evidenced by him making plays 30 yards downfield. Hackney works hard to get extension and knock back the offensive lineman, creating separation and shedding to pursue from there. A consistent winner of 1on1 matchups, his film has not shown him taking on double teams or squeezing.
