Fans of Bergen Catholic athletics, and general New Jersey HS football fans should remember the name Josh McKenzie. McKenzie, who resided down the shore in Wall, graduated from BC in 2019 and was a four-year starter in both football and wrestling; Earning All-State honors in both sports before heading to Yale to play football. . Anderson also resides in Wall and like McKenzie, is also a stellar football player and wrestler. During his youth career he was selected to the Jersey Shore AYF Conference All-Stars, and this past season he was a big reason for St. James reaching the Pop Warner Super Bowl. He enters high school significantly bigger than McKenzie did and could ultimately end up shining brightest as a Linebacker or in the Secondary, in addition to contributions as a Running Back.

started the 2025 season off with a bang. Returning a kick for a touchdown in week 1, that play alone gives us a great sense of the player teams will be getting in the future. I had to watch the video a few times to confirm, but from what I saw, Gavin took it all the way to the house untouched. He was decisive in his path down the field, bouncing it to the outside as he tore by the kick team’s players. Gavin is truly a natural born sprinter, and that was proven on that return to the end zone. He already has high school size and speed and Gavin continues to impress and gain more attention as his high school career nears.

Gavin is a proven champion with all-star skills. He’s more of a pro style running back with great anticipation and vision. Also shows maturity by letting plays develop then turns on the jets when its go time! I definitely have him down as a big play threat. Gavin has shown he can catch the ball out the backfield too so don’t sleep on that ability either.
