Dowdy Jr., whose season ended early with an injury, does have some quality film from his Junior year and the first few games of his senior season. He picked up an offer from Sacred Heart over the summer and committed to the FCS program in Connecticut.

Dowdy is one of the top WR prospects in New York, and his tape shows a player who can make a big difference after the catch—he shows burst and speed. This season, he showed good instincts against zone coverages, finding space and adjusting his routes. He is a guy who can be the focal point of screen/sweep concepts. Dowdy is a really impressive athlete overall.

Dowdy also picked up an offer from LIU after his commitment.

Dowdy Jr is the top returning WR in the CHSFL regarding yards, and he will run it back as the WR1 for Iona Prep. Dowdy Jr is a true three-level WR prospect who shows on tape that he can run a full route tree and be dangerous after the catch. Dowdy Jr comes off a spring where he picked up his first D1 offer, and with more eyes on him this fall, he could be one of the top offensive playmakers in all of New York.

Dowdy was behind a couple of very good seniors in 2022, but this season he was the top target and he thrived. Dowdy led the league with a ridiculous 69 receptions. He added 946 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns to his name. He was the top playmaker on an Iona Prep offense that found its rhythm late in the season and made a AAA title game appearance. His yards after catch was an impressive trait and he created separation consistently to haul in the amount of receptions he had.

Steven Dowdy Jr Steven Dowdy Jr 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Iona Prep | 2025 State NY was a key piece in a very deep and consistent Iona Prep WR room last season and was a game changer as a kick returner. Dowdy Jr has speed that is coveted at the next level and can take any return or reception for a long gain. Dowdy Jr is a solid route runner and excels in the slot against safeties and nickel corners. With the speed Dowdy Jr has he very much has a kick returner/deep threat vibe to his game but he still does really good work running shorter routes and screens. With a couple graduations Dowdy Jr is in line for a bigger role and is a player to watch this season.
