is the Top EDGE Rusher in the state. The Iona Prep playmaker, suited up for Punishers, and went absolutely nuts. On Saturday alone, he had around six touchdown passes. He was the number one target, and found himself open, and with the ability to make catches at any level, and at any time. His hands were like glue, hauling in one hand and contested catches all day Saturday, and throughout the first game Sunday. Simmons easily was a top 15 playmaker in attendance.

. The Iona Prep prospect, took the Catholic League by storm this season, with an outstanding stat sheet, and racking up over ten offers.
As a prospect, Simmons is a dream of an EDGE Rusher. Standing at 6’5″ 245-Pounds, he displays an elite frame for the position. His strength is outstanding, and his leverage while attacking the pocket, and his footwork which stays balanced and locked in is on full display. Simmons is an outstanding EDGE, and was one of the top movers for a good reason.

Simmons was my biggest miss in my first 2027 Class update. The Iona Prep EDGE, let me know after his first game where he dominated. Colleges agree, as his recruitment has taken off. The 9th ranked player in 2027, displays an elite frame at 6’5″ 245-Pounds.
The Gaels prospect, has been a human wrecking ball off the EDGE, and displayed outstanding speed throughout the season. His strength is unteachable, and I like his use of spin moves to shed blocks off the EDGE. He has a high IQ, and can shed blocks quickly to close gaps. Simmons can work being more violent with his hands, as I believe this is the last trait he has left to master.

Simmons has been a rising prospect this season for the Gaels. The Junior plays on mainly defense, but can take snaps as a TE on offense. Against Monsignor Farrell, he had a game sealing interception.
Simmons, has great speed on the EDGE, and I like his ability to reach the POA with the lineman. He has a high IQ, and displays the ability to be a disruptor with his hands. He has a developing tool back of moves, which has been displayed multiple times this season. He has good strength off the EDGE, and he is a guy I would fear if I saw on defense.

Simmons is a clear early miss for me as an evaluator. The Iona Prep EDGE, has an outstanding frame at 6’4″ 220-Pounds, and has received multiple D1 Offers this season.

Sitting as the 214th best prospect in NY, Simmons will easily find himself in the top 50 in no time.

Simmons is my favorite prospect on this Gaels team. Before the game he picked up an Offer from Army, and for a good reason.
He mainly plays on the EDGE for the Gales, but can be used as a TE in blocking and trick plays. He had elite footwork, and showed a good tool bag of moves which allowed him to reach the backfield. Simmons is a potential P4 prospect who needs to be more violent with his rushes.

The Iona Prep EDGE Rusher had himself a day in Albany. Simmons lived in the backfield against Somers, racking up at least two sacks. Stats are not yet out but Simmons stated his ranking was too low and he is 100% correct. Easily an MVP in game one.

displays a solid build for the EDGE position. He is also a TE and he can split snaps on both sides of the ball.
As a TE, he is a big target who can be an easy target to rack in catches for a QB. He has good hands and can sit still in space. A short game pass threat and a down field threat is what

is. As an EDGE, he has good hands, along with a solid tool bag of moves he can use to reach the backfield.
Simon is listed as an EDGE/TE; however, he projects mainly as a TE given his film and frame. I look forward to watching the versatile Iona Prep athlete this fall.

39. Joshua Simmons
A massive player who drew the eyes of scouts upon his arrival. A real 6’6, a good-looking 230 pounds. It’s obvious enough to say that Simmons’s skill set is better suited with pads on. His size and potential as a pass-catcher in a setting like this one is certainly helpful and valuable, yet his potential as an edge prospect and big-body TE makes him an intriguing prospect to watch on Friday nights, not so much in the Spring. All of this being said, I still liked what I saw out of Simmons for the most part, as did our PRZ New York lead Caleb Holfoth. A vacuum for QBs to throw into, a better mover than I expected too. Happy to see him up close at this event.

Simmons was the most physically imposing player in the 18u group of the tournament, and as a 2027, he has a really high ceiling – additionally, he is one of the few prospects who likely is an EDGE/DE as his first position but made some nice plays offensively.
Simmons made some tough catches. His size was a clear advantage in a lot of reps, but I was impressed with his overall movement skills and hands.
Simmons is the type of player for whom all it takes is a couple of plays to impress you; his physical traits and movement skills stand out as he is just scratching the surface of the type of football player he can be as his development continues.
