Expert Analysis

Along with Hill, Zamorano provided Sierra Canyon with an impressive tandem at linebacker against Serra. He was tied for second on the team with five tackles, which includes a tackle for loss, plus one of two sacks in the game. The senior linebacker is an explosive player who is a sure tackler and capable of beating his man on a consistent basis. His ability to get in the backfield shined in Friday’s win, and he was consistently around the ball even if he wasn’t making a tackle.

Zamorano was an All-State nominee as a sophomore when he finished the season with 132 total tackles and has continued to disrupt opposing offenses as a junior. Excellent size, length, and frame for the D1 level at 6’2” 200 lbs. He’s an attacking defender that plays with good leverage and has a great nose for the football. Plays well with his eyes to make quick decisive reads to fill gaps and make plays as they are developing at or behind the LOS. Heavy tackler that takes good angles of pursuit and can break down in space. He’s got a strong grip rarely missing tackles and wraps up to the ground. Shows good athleticism and speed in pursuit to be a sideline-to-sideline playmaker for Sierra Canyon. Surprising he doesn’t already have an offer to his name but that should change as the recruiting cycle progresses.

Impressive up and coming inside linebacker with major D1 size (6’2” 200 lbs.), length, and ability. Extremely active defender with advanced technique and fundamentals. Plays with good pad level leverage throughout his key and play diagnosis to the contact point. A good athlete with natural movement skills and short area acceleration to chase the ball. Limits wasted movement to take efficient angles to the ball. Great hand usage and lateral agility to shed blockers inside the box. Diagnoses plays quickly and triggers to break early on the ball. Big time sophomore season with 132 total tackle and 12 TFL while being selected second team all-league and was an all-state nominee. Watch as his recruiting takes off with a strong junior season at Sierra Canyon.
