Martinsburg ATH Murphy Clement Murphy Clement 5'11" | 190 lbs | ATH Martinsburg | 2024 State WV will join older brother Hudson at WVU this fall as a PWO. Older brother just earned a scholarship during the season and put together a great RS-Freshman season for the Mountaineers. Murphy will look to do the same and has a great chance to do so in time. It sounds like he’ll start out on the offensive side of the ball in college as a RB or WR but has also shown great defensive ability in high school at DB or LB. Clement led the Bulldogs to a Class AAA state championship win and an undefeated season. He threw for 1,600 yards and rushed for 1,100 while accounting for nearly 40 touchdowns this season.
Below was our evaluation of Clement this season.

Taking the top spot as the state’s top athlete, Clement just finished up a fantastic senior esason for Martinsburg. Behind Clement (and others), the Bulldogs went 13-0 this season and took home the AAA state championship with a 57-13 win over Princeton in the state championship game. Clement did a little bit of everything for Martinsburg but plays mostly defensive back and quarterback. He projects to a defensive back at the next level. Clement has good size with his 5-foot-11 frame and has plenty of room to grow into as well. Very good athlete who is explosive, agile, and elusive. Shows quality coverage skills but can also play well downhill against run.

The Martinsburg Bulldogs go as senior QB/ATH Murphy Clement Murphy Clement 5'11" | 190 lbs | ATH Martinsburg | 2024 State WV goes and he’s in contention for the Kennedy Award as the state’s best player this season. Clement best projects as an ATH at the next level and could play a number of positions in college. He’s a D1 prospect with several G5 offers right now and is coming off a 200-yard rushing performance against a very good Huntington team in the semifinal. Look for Martinsburg to lean on Clement’s legs in this game as they did against Huntington behind their very stout offensive line. He’s also a very capable passer and will line up at LB/DB on defense too. Clement is the definition of a “football player” and a tough hard-nosed player for the Bulldogs and team captain.

You don’t often see high school quarterbacks playing corner and covering slot receivers one-on-one, especially on teams the caliber as the Martinsburg Bulldogs and with the level of competition that they face but senior QB/ATH Murphy Clement Murphy Clement 5'11" | 190 lbs | ATH Martinsburg | 2024 State WV isn’t your typical athlete. Clement is QB1 for the Bulldogs and a very good one at that but he might play defensive back at the next level where he currently has two D1 offers. He’s a high-level athlete which you see every Friday night commanding the Martinsburg dynamic offense but his DB play is underrated. With his athleticism, he’s obviously good in coverage but I really appreciate his work in the run game and defending screens and short passes. Clement fights off blockers well and is a very good tackler in space. He has 4.4 40 type of speed and it’s no wonder why D1 schools are after his services.
