After producing at a high level already, he now heads into a new opportunity at Martinsburg with expectations for a big senior season. Wipf’s route running could separate him from a lot of the WR group on Sunday because of how clean and controlled he is getting in and out of breaks. That attention to detail should make him a difficult cover during 1-on-1s, especially when paired with his experience and confidence as a pass catcher. There’s a strong chance Wipf ends the day firmly in the WR Top Performer conversation if he handles business the way we expect.

Wipf is a polished slot target who understands how to get open, whether it’s with his route running or his feel for spacing in a defense. He’s rarely in contested situations because Wipf consistently finds soft spots and gives his quarterback an easy target. On underneath routes, Wipf is quick in and out of his breaks, and once the play extends, he works to uncover and stay available. That ability to separate before and after the route is what makes Wipf such a reliable option on offense.

The production didn’t come out of nowhere; he’d flashed the last couple of seasons, but this was the year he put it together consistently. Now the question is how quickly he settles into the Bulldogs’ system and how big a role he carves out in a program that expects to compete for a state championship. He’s a polished route runner who can align inside or outside and does real damage after the catch, so the transition should be smooth if he builds chemistry early with his quarterback. A strong offseason and quick adjustment could position Wipf for his most complete year yet and potentially elevate his recruiting outlook as he closes out the 2027 cycle.

He emerged as their go-to target in the passing game, which we expected after exciting flashes the past two seasons. Wipf will be a welcome addition to the Bulldogs’ program as a technically sound receiver who can play inside or outside with very good YAC ability as well.

2027 Spring Mills WR Zane Wipf Zane Wipf 5'10" | 165 lbs | WR/ATH Martinsburg | 2027 State WV has emerged as a go-to receiver for the Cardinals in his junior season after showing flashes of ability the previous two years. He’s aided quarterback Rylan Swartz Rylan Swartz 6'3" | 205 lbs | ATH Spring Mills | 2026 State WV in breaking the school record for passing as one of his favorite targets and is a reliable option in the passing game. Wipf had a nice performance against Musselman in round one, with a receiving touchdown and adding another on a punt return. He’s an explosive athlete with developed route-running ability and natural ball skills that have made him one of the best receiver prospects in the 2027 class.

He has the potential to quickly become his new quarterback’s favorite target with his route-running ability in the short and mid levels of the passing game. Wipf has a knack for finding open space and also does a nice job in scramble drills and working to get open for his QB.

Wipf had very good testing numbers at our camp in rainy conditions with a 4.75 40, 4.47 pro shuttle, and a 7.44 L Drill with clear early athleticism that gives him a high ceiling as a WR prospect. He was named the Spring Mills Rookie of the Year by his coaches and should be a significant varsity contributor on a talented Cardinals team as a sophomore this season. The early signs show that Wipf is a well-developed route runner for his age with YAC ability that should make him a dangerous slot receiver in time.

Wipf looks like a true gamer who is going to give defenses fits for the next three years and an early top WR prospect to know in the 2027 class.
