. You won’t find a better WV QB duo in the same college recruiting class this season, and the Pioneers have two studs to choose from down the line for their QB1 spot. Bowers finished inside our Top 10 for 2024 quarterbacks this season and ranks inside the Top 70 overall. He and Crookshanks will have a tough competition in the future to be the Pioneers’ starter, but they’ll both make each other better in doing so and are two different styles of QBs.
Below was our evaluation of Bowers this season.

rose up the Mohigan quarterback career leaderboards this season finishing 2nd in career passing yards, 3rd in career passing touchdowns, and 3rd in passing yards for a senior season in school history. That’s saying something given how many quality quarterbacks have come through the Morgantown program and Bowers is near the top of those names. They let him throw it around a bit more this season after he recovered from a shoulder injury that he played through last season. Another high academic student with a 4.125 GPA who is currently committed to D2 Glenville State. Bowers is definitely your traditional pocket passer who won’t take off very often and is more comfortable in the pocket. However, he still has the ability to move around in the pocket and evade pressure to make an accurate throw and roll out and throw on the run. Decent sized athlete at 6’0 190 and is built pretty well for a high school quarterback. Bowers also has quality arm strength and can throw across his body or push the ball downfield. I could see him being a very productive player in college after a year or two of development at the next level.

Bowers had his season limited with a torn ligiment in his shoulder but should be back this fall fully healthy. In his time on the field last season, Bowers was pretty impressive. He’s not the most athletic quarterback on this list but he’s a very sound quarterback with good footwork and mechanics. Does have a tendancy to throw the fotoball like a pitcher at times but shows qualtiy arm strength to go with quality accuracy. Throws a really nice ball overall. I’ll be interested to see how he does this fall fully healthy ith another year of physical develpment under his belt.

is a 2024 QB that you need to know for the 2023 season. Bowers battled through a torn ligament in his throwing shoulder for most of his junior campaign while leading his Mohigans to a WV AAA Playoff berth. Although injured, he put together a solid junior year passing for over 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns in a Wing-T offense. Bowers has a strong arm that can stretch the field and throws a pretty deep ball. He does a nice job hitting his receivers in stride and gets a rainbow arc on his deep throws. Bowers is a pure pro-style QB who does most of his damage from the pocket but has enough mobility to make defenders miss in the pocket. Bowers has nice touch on his throws while also having the arm strength to zip the ball when needed. Even with limited throwing opportunities in their scheme, Bowers showed enough on film that he can lead offenses outside of the Wing-T and will threaten defenses with his arm.
With hopefully a full senior season of being healthy, Bowers should have a breakout final season of his high school career.

is a rising Senior for Morgantown High School (WV). He is a highly intelligent player and has a 4.125 GPA.
Bowers has good size at 6’0″, 185 pounds and will be able to put on additional size, especially under a collegiate training program.
Bowers is a pro-style QB and is a superb drop back passer. He threw for 1259 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior in a Morgantown offense that relies primarily on the ground game often using the Wing-T. They do not throw the ball often but Maddox has the arm talent, field vision and confidence to win with his arm.
Perhaps Bowers’ greatest strength is his accuracy. He is very good in the vertical passing game and can also deliver the ball to a spot on time. He demonstrates strong mechanics and fundamentals. His footwork and fluid over-the-top throwing motion make him a highly polished passer entering his senior season.
Bowers possesses a strong skill set that will translate well to the next level, most likely Division II.
