2026 Stock-Risers: Skill Positions

We recently dropped our <a href="https://prepredzone.com/north-carolina/rankings/2026-rankings/">final 2026 rankings update</a>, so it's time to break down some of the players who moved in the rankings. Overall, we had 72 stock-risers, guys who moved up at least five spots in the rankings. After going <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2025/12/behind-the-scenes-of-the-final-2026-rankings/">behind the scenes</a> of this final update, we're breaking down every player who moved up at least 25 positions, starting with the skill players.   <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2025/12/2026-stock-risers-quarterbacks-2/">Quarterback Stock-Risers</a>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2026 Skill Position Stock-Risers</h2>    Gulat was our top mover in the rankings, and for good reason. He took over down the stretch, racking up over 200 yards in every game he played as a senior, including a 429-yard outing in the first round of the playoffs. He plays with a ton of patience and power, making him a true FCS or high-Division II prospect, in our eyes.     James just kept getting better as the season progressed, ultimately ending the year with over 1,700 rushing yards. He flashed late as a pass-catcher and really showed his ability to wait for holes to open as a runner. He could probably use a semester in a college weight program, but I like his chances to play early at the next level.     Tate suffered an injury in practice just before the Grimsley game, and the Weddington offense was much worse because of it. His ability to operate in tight spaces and create separation underneath was key to the offense early in the season, opening up easy throws for a team that needed an "easy button" on offense in the playoffs. After re-evaluating his film, I think Tate could be an early contributor in college.     When evaluating several of the younger offensive line prospects on Christ School's roster, I realized how big an impact Cancel makes on games. He's excellent at avoiding contact in the backfield to pick up positive yardage, and he played the best football of his career toward the end of the regular season.     Portis' raw numbers aren't elite, but he was key in several big spots this year for Myers Park, most notably in a two-touchdown performance against Weddington when he got loose over the top. He's a developing route-runner who has long speed and short-area quickness.     Karras is a smart route-runner and began to gain some traction on the recruiting trail late in the season. A strong student, he could end up walking on at an FCS program, though I think some Division II schools would benefit from his craftiness against zone and his blossoming athleticism against man coverage.         Few players across the state can take over a game quite like McBryde, who had five performances in which he averaged over 10 yards a carry this season. That included a two-game stretch at the end of the year in which he had over 550 yards and eight touchdowns on just 23 carries. He's a balanced runner with speed to bounce to the edge and power to get through arm tackles.     Burroughs is bound for Duke as a baseball commit, but we still want to honor him as a pure football player. He etched his name in NCHSAA history with one of the greatest single-game state championship performances of all time—a five-touchdown performance with scores as a rusher, receiver, and defensive back.     While he's not the biggest guy, Falzarano isn't afraid to run between the tackles. I was impressed with how he played against top competition, running for over 100 yards in games against Charlotte Christian, West Charlotte, and Mallard Creek, three teams with stout run defenses and excellent linebackers. He runs with great patience and pad level.     Iovino was the heart and soul of a Cuthbertson team that played a difficult schedule in 2025. The larger power back is getting some recognition after the season, with a few late offers.
