Brown carried the ball 23 times for 236 yards and 2 touchdowns in the victory. He'll make his name known this season as one of the top running backs in the state, as he's poised to have a true breakout year. He made a statement in week one in the Wildcats' win over Hedgesville that he can produce just as well as Josh Moody did. Duffy threw for 310 yards and 6 touchdowns on an efficient 17/24 passing. Valentine was on the receiving end of the Hail Mary catch in the final second of the Black Eagles' win over Ripley. He made a heady play to pick the ball off a Ripley defender's body in the end zone to secure the catch and the win for South Charleston. He shook off some early turnovers that a salty Independence defense forced and nearly led the Huskies to a big comeback. Grigsby and his team erased a 30-7 deficit to a close 30-28 halftime score as they clawed their way back into the game. He booted 9/10 touchdowns in the game with plenty of opportunities with the Indians' 62 points. Williams added to that score with a rushing touchdown of his own and converted on 8/9 PATs. Eversole also had a quick start to his senior year with an efficient 10/14 night for 206 yards and a touchdown against Preston while adding 38 yards on the ground. He's stepping in as the leader of the defense this season at middle linebacker and produced in a big way in game one. Markonich totaled 14 solo tackles and 2 TFLs in the 23-21 win over the Tigers.
