He remains in the Top 25 of the rankings with something to prove in his senior year after a shortened season that should motivate him heading into 2026. Martin will be a premier two-way player in Class AAA next season and could produce some big numbers on both sides of the ball.

He’s putting himself in the conversation for some postseason accolades if he maintains this pace for the remainder of the year. Martin had put up eye-opening stats at running back this year, with over 500 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns in 4 games that were largely over by halftime. That’s a new role for him this year, as the Indians needed to replace a stable of backs from last year’s state championship team. They may not have needed him as much on defense so far this season, but Martin remains one of the best linebacker prospects in the 2027 class, with a new position to showcase himself at this season on offense that will give him options at the next level.

One of the best linebackers in the 2027 class is Bridgeport’s Gabe Martin Gabe Martin 6'0" | 200 lbs | LB/RB Bridgeport | 2027 State WV , who we’ve liked since his freshman team film two years ago. He’s always had the instincts and football I.Q. for the position to develop into a very good player, which you saw last season on the varsity team as a sophomore. Athletically, Martin was impressive with a 4.75 40, 118 broad jump, and two sub-4-second shuttle times. That athleticism translated well during 1-on-1s with several winning reps as arguably the top LB performer of the day. He’ll see a nice jump in our upcoming rankings update after getting to see him in person for the first time.

Martin led the team in tackles with 78, including 13.5 for a loss, which speaks volumes to his ability and future, given the amount of talent on that squad. He’ll need to continue adding size to increase his ceiling further, but Martin is on the fast track to being one of the top linebackers in this class. Martin is a smart, heady player for his age and has a strong football IQ, which we identified on his freshman tape.

Bridgeport 2027 RB/LB Gabe Martin Gabe Martin 6'0" | 200 lbs | LB/RB Bridgeport | 2027 State WV is a young prospect that we are high on that not many others may know yet and has some of the more underrated film in this class early on. Martin should be a perfect fit in the Indians’ varsity Single-Wing offense in the future as one of their backs but debuts as a linebacker in the 2027 rankings. He’ll need to keep getting bigger to maximize his potential as a prospect, but Martin’s style of play is advanced for his age. He has good speed that was lamented from his running back film and flies around on defense as an outside linebacker. Martin does a great job disengaging from blockers and fighting to the ball carrier. He has the athleticism to run down ball carriers from behind and plays well in space with the physicality to be stout near the line of scrimmage.

Martin looks like another future big-time player for the Indians who has been developed in the Bridgeport Football factory that is churning out tough, physical playmakers.
