Williams booted 44 touchbacks on 115 attempts, converted on 83/87 PAT attempts, averaged over 41 yards per punt, and successfully made his lone 34-yard field goal attempt. The Indians offense gave Williams plenty of reps due to their prolific offense, and he made the most of it with a strong sophomore campaign.

We recently touched on Williams in our 2024 Bridgeport Team Preview as he’ll likely be the full-time varsity kicker this season and beyond. Williams is a very good young athlete overall which makes his future as a specialist all the more exciting from the athletic base that he has. He’s already shown he has some serious range on field goals and leg strength that’s not typical of most young specialists.

Williams could develop into a highly regarded specialist prospect by his senior year and should have some college options if he continues to progress each year.

Gavin Williams Gavin Williams 6'0" | 175 lbs | K/RB Bridgeport | 2027 State WV is a very exciting specialist prospect in the 2027 class who will rank among the state’s best in the upcoming 2027 rankings debut set for next month. Williams has athletic versatility as a skill player too where he was the Indians’ freshman starting running back last season but has a very bright future as a kicker. He got some run on the varsity team later in the season and performed admirably for a freshman specialist. Williams has the leg strength to hit from 50+ yards and converted from over 40 during a real game situation as a freshman. He’s a two-sport athlete who will also be a standout basketball player for the Indians over the next three years which greatly benefits his kicking ability.

Williams will likely be the full-time varsity kicker in 2024 as a sophomore and could earn some early accolades next season.
