Herbert Hoover may have fallen in their opening night game against a good Independence squad, but 2028 QB Peyton Grigsby Peyton Grigsby 6'0" | 165 lbs | QB Herbert Hoover | 2028 State WV proved that he can lead the Huskies to big things. He shook off some early turnovers that a salty Independence defense forced and nearly led the Huskies to a big comeback. Grigsby and his team erased a 30-7 deficit to a close 30-28 halftime score as they clawed their way back into the game. He finished the night completing 22/33 passes for 341 yards and several scores.

Grigsby has turned heads at every event he attends and was recently a standout at the Hotbeds 2028 Freshman All-American game down in Georgia. He’s one of the best pure passers in the WV 2028 class with underrated athleticism to pair with his arm talent. Grigsby throws a pretty ball with accuracy and touch and is well ahead of most 2028 quarterbacks developmentally at this stage of their careers.

We heard a lot of good things about 2028 Capital QB Peyton Grigsby Peyton Grigsby 6'0" | 165 lbs | QB Herbert Hoover | 2028 State WV as a middle schooler while heading into high school this off-season and you could see why at the Winter Exposure Showcase. Grigsby unseated a two-year starter at quarterback for Capital this season as a freshman and has a very bright future for the position. The arm talent was obvious throughout the night for a young QB just wrapping up his first taste of high school football and the ball jumped off his hand. The most exciting part of his game is that he’s still very much raw mechanically, especially in his footwork which will only take his game to the next level as he continues to improve and develop over the next three years.

Grigsby is another one that checks the boxes of both. One of the most physically-developed QBs in this West Virginia 2028 class, Grigsby certainly doesn’t skip many days in the weight room. This past fall, as QB1 at West Side Middle School, Grigsby helped the Wolfpack to its second consecutive appearance in the Kanawha County championship game–and boy did he show up big in the title game this year. The dual-threat QB finished the day going 8-of-12 for 201 yards and three touchdowns, against John Adams Middle School.
