Porter broke out in a big way last season and brings another explosive playmaker to an already loaded group of skill players. His versatility allows the Huskies to get creative, whether that’s lining him up in the slot, using him as a scatback, or finding other ways to get the ball in his hands. He’s also the state’s top punt returner, giving Herbert Hoover another weapon capable of changing a game with a single touch. Porter’s arrival adds even more explosiveness to an offense that was already difficult to defend and further strengthens the Huskies’ championship outlook.

Takye Porter Takye Porter 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH Hoover | 2028 State WV had an electrifying sophomore season for the Nitro Wildcats in multitude of ways that earned him a small bump in the 2028 rankings. He proved to be a playmaker as a RB/WR on offense and one of the best returners in the state last season, totaling over 2,000 all-purpose yards. Porter is a highlight reel waiting to happen with the ball in his hands and a top ATH in the class.

He has some very talented seniors ahead of him, but will carve out a role again as a sophomore as he did as a freshman. Porter can be versatile in how he’s used and it will be interesting to see how Nitro uses him this year.

2028 Nitro WR Takye Porter Takye Porter 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH Hoover | 2028 State WV carved out a varsity role for himself as a freshman for the Wildcats and should increase his production each of the next three years. Porter posted over 500 all-purpose yards and 4 touchdowns in 2024 as a dynamic slot receiver and special teams returner. A bit undersized right now, but Porter flashed serious playmaking potential out of the slot and as a returner. He appears that he’ll develop into a quick and twitchy slot which you see glimpses of in his freshman tape with a bright future ahead of him. Porter has a quick release and burst off the line and will be very difficult to cover 1-on-1 in man coverage doing a nice job of finding space. He’s also very good at taking touch passes around the end with very good YAC ability and change of direction. Porter is right at the top of the early 2028 receivers at this stage and could develop into one of the more dynamic players in this class by his senior year.

As for as 2028s go in West Virginia, Porter is one of the most dynamic prospects in The Mountain State. He’ll be off to Niro High School for the fall season, where he’ll attempt to replace some of the production his brother, Nudy Hall, who graduates. Expect Porter to get a nice chunk of playing time in a Running Back/Slot Receiver type of role. Watching him on film, it’s easy to see why he was named the Kanawha County MVP after a great 8th grade season at South Charleston Middle.
