Class AAA saw several notable offensive transfers this offseason, with players changing programs for a variety of reasons while creating new opportunities for themselves and their new teams. Some are expected to step in as immediate stars, while others fill critical needs that could help push a contender over the top. In this series, we're breaking down the offensive transfers who have the best chance to make an immediate impact during the 2026 season and could play a major role in shaping the Class AAA playoff race.

Capital -> Herbert Hoover

Few transfers across the state have the potential to impact a team's championship aspirations like 2027 RB [player_tooltip player_id='1155316' first='David' last='Robinson Jr']. After transferring from Capital to Herbert Hoover, the Top 5 overall prospect and #1 running back in the class gives the Huskies a proven workhorse to anchor their offense. Robinson brings three years of production and experience to an already talented roster, adding another dimension to a team that features a dynamic passing attack. His presence should create offensive balance and force defenses to respect both the run and pass every snap. Robinson Jr headlines an impressive transfer group for Herbert Hoover, and his arrival is a major reason the Huskies enter the season as one of the favorites to compete for the Class AAA championship.

Nitro -> Herbert Hoover

Herbert Hoover's offseason haul became even more dangerous with the addition of 2028 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1221847' first='Takye' last='Porter'] from Nitro. Porter broke out in a big way last season and brings another explosive playmaker to an already loaded group of skill players. His versatility allows the Huskies to get creative, whether that's lining him up in the slot, using him as a scatback, or finding other ways to get the ball in his hands. He's also the state's top punt returner, giving Herbert Hoover another weapon capable of changing a game with a single touch. Porter's arrival adds even more explosiveness to an offense that was already difficult to defend and further strengthens the Huskies' championship outlook.

Mount View -> Princeton

Princeton landed one of the state's top young transfers with the addition of 2029 RB [player_tooltip player_id='1716418' first='Aaron' last='Hood Jr']. After a standout freshman season at Mount View, Hood recently debuted as a Top 10 overall prospect and the #2 running back in the 2029 class. His move to Class AAA will be one of the more interesting storylines to follow this fall after the impressive film he put together at the Class A level. Princeton is looking for someone to emerge in the backfield, and Hood has the talent to develop into that player sooner rather than later. His arrival gives the Tigers another explosive athlete with a high ceiling and improves the outlook for both this season and the program's future.

Capital -> Herbert Hoover

Herbert Hoover continued to add firepower with the addition of 2028 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1309676' first='Turay' last='Rush'] from Capital. Rush has flashed tremendous potential over his first two seasons and recently picked up his first D1 offer from Kent State, a sign that college programs are beginning to recognize his upside. He joins an already loaded group of skill players and will have to compete for touches, but he may possess the highest ceiling of any receiver on the roster. His athleticism and big-play ability fit perfectly within the Huskies' offense, giving them another weapon defenses must account for. This feels like the season for Rush to put everything together and show why his recruitment is beginning to take off while helping Herbert Hoover remain among the favorites in Class AAA.

Riverside -> South Charleston

South Charleston addressed one of its biggest offseason needs with the addition of 2028 RB [player_tooltip player_id='1309691' first='Malakhi' last='Hope'] from Riverside. Originally expected to join Herbert Hoover, Hope instead gives the Black Eagles another major addition to an already impressive offseason haul. After two productive seasons at Riverside, he arrives ready to fill an important role in the backfield while bringing proven experience and playmaking ability to the offense. Hope should also benefit from running behind one of the top offensive line units in the state, creating an ideal situation for him to put together a big junior campaign. His addition not only solidifies the running back position but also raises the overall ceiling for a South Charleston team with high expectations entering the season.

Robert C. Byrd. Barksdale took a noticeable step forward during his sophomore season and now joins a Polar Bear program that should provide an excellent opportunity for his continued development. He'll compete for the starting running back job, but regardless of who opens the season atop the depth chart, expect Barksdale to earn plenty of touches. His arrival gives Fairmont Senior another quality option in an already talented backfield and adds valuable competition heading into the season. I'm interested to see how his game progresses in his new environment, as he has the tools to become an important part of the Polar Bears' offense over the next two years.

Clay-Battelle -> North Marion

North Marion landed one of the more intriguing offensive line additions in the state with the transfer of 2027 OL [player_tooltip player_id='1615272' first='Zach' last='Gump'] from Clay-Battelle. After establishing himself as one of the top linemen at the Class A level, Gump now gets the opportunity to prove himself against Class AAA competition. His rare 6'8 300 frame immediately stands out and gives the Huskies a physical presence that few teams will see. North Marion has consistently developed quality offensive linemen, making this an ideal situation for Gump as he enters his senior season. He's an underrated college prospect at the moment, but a strong year against tougher competition could quickly change that. His addition gives the Huskies another cornerstone piece up front as they look to build one of the better offensive lines in the classification.

Robert C. The recent Top 20 prospect showed exciting potential as a freshman at Robert C. Byrd and now joins an offense that should be an excellent fit for his playmaking ability. Holmes is a dynamic slot receiver who can create explosive plays whenever the ball finds him. With one of the state's top quarterbacks leading the offense, he'll have every opportunity to continue developing into a featured weapon. It wouldn't be surprising to see Holmes emerge as one of the most recognizable young receivers in West Virginia before long.

Huntington -> Herbert Hoover

One of the more surprising offseason moves came when 2029 TE [player_tooltip player_id='1408734' first='Aiden' last='Barnett'] joined Herbert Hoover after originally appearing set for a varsity role at Huntington this year. The recent Top 15 prospect gives the Huskies an answer at tight end, a position that was one of the few remaining question marks on an already loaded offense. Barnett has the size and upside to develop into a major weapon as both a blocker and pass catcher, making him an ideal fit for Herbert Hoover's offensive system, and he can make an impact at DL as well. With his high ceiling and three seasons still ahead of him, Barnett adds another impactful player to the Huskies' program.

Nitro -> Herbert Hoover

Herbert Hoover found an immediate answer in the trenches with the addition of 2028 OL [player_tooltip player_id='1260138' first='Steven' last='Kinney'] from Nitro. One of the top offensive linemen in the 2028 class, Kinney has been a varsity starter since his freshman season and brings valuable experience to a Huskies line that needed to replace several key contributors. While he may not have prototypical size, he consistently wins with technique, toughness, and athleticism in both the passing and running game. Kinney also has the ability to contribute on the defensive line if needed, adding even more value to his arrival. His experience and consistency help solidify one of Herbert Hoover's biggest offseason needs and make him one of the more impactful transfers in Class AAA.

Capital -> Herbert Hoover

Replacing key offensive linemen was one of Herbert Hoover's biggest offseason priorities, and 2028 OL [player_tooltip player_id='2104110' first='Jason' last='Martin'] helps address that need. After transferring from Capital, Martin gives the Huskies another promising young lineman with two seasons still ahead of him. I liked the ability and upside he showed in his sophomore film, and this feels like a great opportunity for him to continue progressing in his development. Alongside fellow transfer [player_tooltip player_id='1260138' first='Steven' last='Kinney'], Martin helps stabilize an offensive line that had several important holes to fill after graduation. He may not receive as much attention as some of the skill position additions, but he's a quality, underrated pickup who could prove to be one of the more important pieces of Herbert Hoover's offseason haul.

George Washington -> Chapmnaville

Chapmanville entered the offseason needing to replace several key contributors at wide receiver, and 2027 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1154939' first='Kai' last='Martin'] helps fill that void. After transferring from George Washington, Martin brings outstanding size and athletic upside to the Tigers' offense. His basketball background is evident, and there's still plenty of untapped potential as a receiver. He also lands in an ideal situation with one of the state's top quarterbacks throwing him the football, giving him every opportunity to put together the best season of his career. As Chapmanville looks to build on last year's semifinal run, Martin has a chance to become an important piece of the offense and finally capitalize on his considerable upside.

Moorefield -> Elkins

One under-the-radar transfer worth keeping an eye on is 2027 QB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id='2196069' first='Cyrus' last='Kump'], who heads to Elkins after transferring from Moorefield. While there isn't game film available to evaluate yet, we did get to see Kump at our Exposure Series and came away intrigued by his physical tools. He has the 6'4 215 size coaches look for and appears poised to take over the Tigers' offense this fall. Elkins found success operating its Wing-T last season, but Kump's skill set could give the Tigers more opportunities to stretch defenses through the air while maintaining the identity that worked so well. He's one of the more interesting projection prospects in Class AAA, and this season should provide a much better look at what he can become once he posts film.

Not every important addition grabs headlines, and 2028 OL/DL [player_tooltip player_id='1624426' first='Devon' last='Green'] could prove to be one of South Charleston's most valuable pickups. After transferring from St. Albans, Green steps into an offensive line that already features two D1 prospects, giving the Black Eagles another talented piece in the trenches. I had the chance to see him at a past camp and came away impressed with his size, strength, and physical upside. While there's no film to evaluate yet, the tools are clearly there for Green to develop into a standout lineman for South Charleston over the next two seasons. Playing alongside an experienced group should only accelerate his growth, making him an underrated addition who could quietly become a key contributor for a rebuilding program.

St. Albans -> South Charleston

South Charleston continues to stockpile talent with the addition of 2028 WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='1677078' first='James' last='Lowe'] from St. Albans. A Top 10 receiver in the class, Lowe brings another explosive option to an offense that already features plenty of playmakers. He'll compete for touches in a crowded receiver room, but his dynamic skill set makes him a player the Black Eagles will want to get involved. Lowe has flashed big-play ability throughout his first two seasons and has the versatility to earn a starting role in the secondary as well. He's another significant addition who raises the overall talent level of an already impressive roster.
