The senior of Elkins’ potential three-headed monster in the backfield this season will be Philip Barbour transfer RB Logan Beam Logan Beam 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Elkins | 2026 State WV . He had a very good season for the Colts as a junior in 2024 and will provide a physical presence in the Tigers’ Wing-T this season.
Here’s what we recently said about Beam in our 2026 Rankings New Additions article:
“A running back prospect to know this fall, as he transfers into a new program, is 2026 Elkins RB Logan Beam Logan Beam 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Elkins | 2026 State WV . Beam was a productive player for Philip Barbour in 2024, but he will make his way to Elkins for a three-headed monster rushing attack in their Wing-T system. He was a 1,000-yard rusher as a junior for the Colts and should fit in well in Elkins’ scheme. Beam is versatile in running hard between the tackles with speed to break it outside at times, too.”

It sounds like the Colts will be relying on 2026 RB Logan Beam Logan Beam 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Elkins | 2026 State WV to be their bell-cow running back this season as they try to fill the large void left by Nate Hulver this season. Beam got some good experience as a sophomore in 2023 in spot duty where he rushed for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns, but Beam made his mark the most on special teams as a standout kick returner where he housed two kickoffs. We got eyes on Beam this off-season at the PRZ WV Combine where he tested well and showed some of those athletic traits that we saw on film.
Look for Beam to have a breakout junior season for the Colts and could put up some big numbers in his first season as the starter.

Philip Barbour 2026 running back Logan Beam Logan Beam 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Elkins | 2026 State WV recently came onto our radar before the Combine and had a nice performance during the event. He’s an athlete who is going to come on strong the next two seasons for the Colts and flashed last season as a sophomore with the opportunities he got. Beam was a dynamic kick returner last season and showed us why with his testing numbers and play during the camp. He ran a 4.85 40, a 4.67 pro shuttle, and a 7.87 L Drill in wet conditions which we know he could have improved on a drier field.
We’ll be watching him closely next season for his junior year when his playing time on offense should increase as they look for a new running back to take over the reins.

will be in the mix. He did some great things on special teams for the Colts as a sophomore where he led the in kickoff return yards averaging 29 yards a return and scoring two touchdowns. That dynamic playmaking ability will translate to more touches and production on offense after seeing some spot duty in 2023 at running back. The question we have for Beam heading into the combine will be can he show off that playmaking ability as an offensive player in 1-on-1s without having kickoff reps available at the camp? That will give us a better idea of what to expect next season and in the future for his play and role on offense but being a talented kick returner will be very beneficial for him as a prospect.
