Prep Redzone NC Combine Athletic Testing Standouts

All week, Joshua Graham and I will have plenty of content on our Prep Redzone NC Combine standouts. In fact, we're doing full evaluations on every player in attendance (I've already looked at the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2025/05/prz-clayton-combine-rewind-quarterback-breakdown/">quarterbacks</a> and <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2025/05/prz-clayton-combine-rewind-rb-notes-evaluations/">running backs</a>). That includes an all-encompassing breakdown of players, including notes from drills and one-on-ones.   This isn't that. A big draw of a "combine" is the athletic testing portion. Due to time constraints, athletes had two attempts on the 40 and one attempt on each of the other three drills   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Top Broad Jumps</h3>   [player_tooltip player_id='1600424' first='Jaylen' last='King'], LB, Cleveland: 10'5"   [player_tooltip player_id='1549526' first='Evan' last='Brown'], DB, Leesville Road: 10'   [player_tooltip player_id='935584' first='Kenneth' last='Dula IV'], DB, Jordan-Matthews: 9'8"   [player_tooltip player_id='1665917' first='Jayden' last='Howard'], RB, Havelock: 9'6"   [player_tooltip player_id='1663571' first='Chris' last='Najm'], RB, Pinecrest: 9'6"   [player_tooltip player_id='563219' first='Greyson' last='Mosley']: 9'6"   Other Notes/Notable Performances:   Jacksonville freshman [player_tooltip player_id='887866' first='Domonic' last='Williams Jr']. and Mount Airy RB [player_tooltip player_id='1531332' first='Taeshon' last='Martin'] each jumped 9'3", which showed their explosiveness, something that stood out in position work and one-on-ones. Edge rusher [player_tooltip player_id='1663952' first='Davis' last='Prichard'] jumped 8'11", a great number at 230 pounds as a sophomore. King's 10'5" broad jump would be tied for third in this year's NFL Combine.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Top L-Drills (3-Cone)</h3>   [player_tooltip player_id='714587' first='TJ' last='Campbell'], WR, Clayton: 6.65   [player_tooltip player_id='1612399' first='Jahkese' last='Bodrick'], DB, American Leadership Academy: 6.91   [player_tooltip player_id='1276945' first='Sione' last='Latimore'], WR, Cox Mill: 6.91   [player_tooltip player_id='1041542' first='Ty' last='Sigler'], QB, Hopewell: 6.93   [player_tooltip player_id='366302' first='Tristian' last='Turner'], WR, Northern Guilford: 6.94   Other Notes/Notable Performances:   Middle school (2029) QB [player_tooltip player_id='1664518' first='Christopher' last='Person Jr']. ran his 3-cone in 7.02, an elite number for his age. Najm and Howard each mirrored each other again, going 7.09 and 7.06, respectively, in the L-Drill. Campbell's 6.65 would have been the best 3-cone at the NFL Combine this year and is the fastest 3-cone I've ever seen in person. Offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='903425' first='Jackson' last='Sammons']' 3-cone time of 7.59 would have been one of the best among offensive linemen at the 2025 NFL Combine.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Top 5-10-5s (Short Shuttle)</h3>   [player_tooltip player_id='714587' first='TJ' last='Campbell']: 4.09   [player_tooltip player_id='1663571' first='Chris' last='Najm']: 4.25   [player_tooltip player_id='1665917' first='Jayden' last='Howard']: 4.34   [player_tooltip player_id='366302' first='Tristian' last='Turner']: 4.37   [player_tooltip player_id='1600424' first='Jaylen' last='King']: 4.37   Other Notes/Notable Performances:   Cuthbertson QB [player_tooltip player_id='1662114' first='Austin' last='Davis'] ran a blazing 4.40 short shuttle, something that showed up in his pocket footwork later. Defensive backs [player_tooltip player_id='793334' first='Courtland' last='Simmons'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1612399' first='Jahkese' last='Bodrick'] came just behind at 4.44, as did receivers [player_tooltip player_id='1332157' first='Dylan' last='Piver'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1657753' first='Doc' last='Caldwell']. [player_tooltip player_id='1663952' first='Davis' last='Prichard'] put up another great time for his size, with a 4.44-second 5-10-5. [player_tooltip player_id='903425' first='Jackson' last='Sammons'] put up another nice time of 4.78 in a test that is fairly predictive of future offensive line success.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">40-Yard</h3>   [player_tooltip player_id='1667920' first='Kamarri' last='Smallwood'], WR, American Leadership Academy: 4.56   [player_tooltip player_id='1665124' first='Holden' last='Baker'], DB, Laney: 4.59   [player_tooltip player_id='1612399' first='Jahkese' last='Bodrick']: 4.62   [player_tooltip player_id='1549526' first='Evan' last='Brown']: 4.62   [player_tooltip player_id='1665957' first='Jahcure' last='Moore'], DB, American Leadership Academy: 4.62   Other Notes/Notable Performances:   Linebackers [player_tooltip player_id='1600424' first='Jaylen' last='King'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1129856' first='Jackson' last='Bordelon'] (Fuquay-Varina) each broke 4.8, with King running a 4.72 and Bordelon running a 4.78. Bordelon has run a bit faster than that before, but it's still a good time for his size. [player_tooltip player_id='935584' first='Kenneth' last='Dula IV'] ran a 4.72 on his second attempt as he ran his first 40 since his fall injury. He's been faster before, but it's a sign he's getting back to game speed.   Defensive linemen [player_tooltip player_id='1663952' first='Davis' last='Prichard'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1666240' first='Jacob' last='Bowen'] each broke 5.0, running 4.94s in their only attempts. Bowen's time, as a pure down lineman at 245 pounds, is fantastic, especially for a 2028. Quarterbacks [player_tooltip player_id='1662114' first='Austin' last='Davis'], [player_tooltip player_id='1228977' first='Chance' last='Cato'], and [player_tooltip player_id='589556' first='Jackson' last='Duke'] all broke 5.0, running 4.94, 4.87, and 4.84, respectively.
